Chapter Song: Walls Could Talk- Halsey

Wednesday- Morning

-Evangeline-

"I feel amazing."

"Are you sure? You've had quite a night," August tells me as he works on his phone to review all the cameras in my house.

As soon as I woke up, August called me. He told me he wasn't forcing me to do my morning exercise unless I wanted to -of course, I said no- and asked how I was feeling. I must have been talking too fast and not noticed because he told me to slow down. Then, he came over with a coffee, and I explained every detail of the situation while standing in the little hallway of the staircase- leading to the door.

He was mad and proud of me for stealing a puppy in danger; angry, I risked my life and endangering myself more when I was injured; proud, I risked myself to save another life.

"Yes, I'm sure. Surprisingly, I feel amazing. I have all this energy and the only thing that hurts is my arm, but that's from falling into the door."

"Dammit, Evangeline. You have to be careful with what you do with your body. You only get one body, you know?" He drags his finger across his phone, and it changes the screen. He then looks up from his phone and his eyes harden at me, "Are you on fucking drugs?!"

August takes a step closer to me and squeezes my cheeks with my hand, "Your pupils are dilated," He gently lets go of my cheeks, "What the fuck did I say about taking drugs?"

"I'm not on anything," It's not a complete truth, but also not a lie. Sure, I'm on prescribed drugs by another name, but I haven't taken anything since last night, and by then, it should have worn off by now.

Without permission, he unzips my jacket and removes my arms from the sleeve, "Hey!" I say, dragging my arm from his hold.

"There's a fucking injection would on your arm," He points to my arm that hurts from the bruise that formed, "What the fuck did you take Evangeline?!"

I roll my eyes, "I told you I didn't take anything!" Why doesn't he believe me? He usually does.

"Whatever," August locks his phone and puts it in his leather jacket pocket "Until you tell me what the fuck you took, I'm not helping you with anything," He stuffs his hands inside his pocket and turns around to head to the door.

"August," I drag out his name as I watch him walk towards the door that's not far. "I'll tell you," He stops before the door.

"I'm listening," He tells me without turning around.

"I didn't take anything today, but last night when I got out of my shower, I took something to help with the pain."

He turns around, crossing his arms and looking down at me from the distance, "Did you take the same drugs as before."

"Yes, but-"

"They're still drugs Evangeline!" His raised voice almost yells at me. He uncrosses his arms, fisting his hands at his side, "It doesn't matter if you call them prescripted. The side effect is hallucinations so you could have hallucinated it all."

"Sweet biscuits, you don't believe me," I mutter, under my breath.

"You've taken these drugs before and hallucinated before that a spider kept trying to crawl on you; so, why would I believe you?" He stares at me, waiting for an answer that I don't know how to give.
