I started hearing these weird sounds. Something like a buzz. At least this means I'm not dead. As the sounds came into focus more I heard laughter coming from the hallway.
"What do you think David did when he heard that?"
"I don't think anything. I saw it. He screamed and asked the 'ghost' to leave him alone. It was hilarious. He was so sure that his room was haunted. That was so mean of me."
They again started laughing.
As I became more and more alert I could feel the cold floor underneath me. Everything hurts. I opened my eyes to see what was around me and the room was mostly white. I saw a yellow light bulb that was giving the room a yellow hue. I started to stand but I got so dizzy that I fell back down. I decided to take it more slowly. I sat up and looked around some more. The room was completely empty except for me and a small pillow that my head had rested on earlier. The door was fully metal with a small glass window in the upper left corner. The longer I sat up the dizzier I felt so I decided to lie back down. Before I knew it I was asleep again. I woke up startled to the sound of a door being unlocked. I slowly sat up scooting back to lean against the wall.
"Well look who's finally awake" he said. I know I'm wrong but he sounded sympathetic.
"What would you like to eat" He started. I still refused to speak. "It doesn't matter anyway you don't have a choice." He stepped back into the hall and grabbed a plate of food. It actually looked good. There was seasoned chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy.
"Would you have chosen this?" he asked.
I tried to stand to receive the food and my legs crumpled underneath me.
"Careful!" he said gently catching me to slow my fall.
After I was safely seated on the ground I grabbed the food.
"Thanks." I said. My voice sounded hoarse.
"Of course. I doubt you want to be here any more than I do." he said.
"You don't work for them?" I asked genuinely intrigued.
"Yes and no. They took me a while back and they tell me where I can and cannot go. Typically, they have me care for the new members"
"I'm not a member"
"Ok prisoners and members." He paused and looked thoughtful for a second. "Not like new members aren't prisoners too. Eat up." He said.
"What's your name?"
"Johnny. Unless you get out of here and meet Caroline West. Then I'm Timothy. Just don't call me by that here. I am Johnny here."
"Ok. Good to know." I kind of laughed at that.
"Hey I gotta split and take care of the other people. Off the record I hope you escape." He turned and walked out of the room.
Since I was beginning to feel better and better as time passed. I decided to try standing again and while I wasn't very stable I was able to walk a few steps. I got tired easily, but at least I was walking. I spent most of my time sleeping and some time walking because I wanted to be ready to leave.
...
This room is getting very dull. I wonder what they plan to do with me. I wonder how long I have been here. The only thing helping me keep a slight track of time is the 5 meals they have given me since I've been here. I have probably been here for 3 days depending on how long I was out. About 30 minutes after my 6th meal I was still slowly picking at it hoping to add some entertainment to this room that's trapping me. I kept thinking about all that Johnny told me, then it hit me. That woman in the park told me her daughter's name is Caroline and her lost son's name is Timmy. Are Timmy and Timothy the same person? Timothy's sister is Caroline. The answer was still a mystery to me. The hours dragged on. Finally the door opened again and Johnny came in.
