Chester is a alter with the personality of an old man. And he comes out when something makes Mike frustrated I headcannon that Mike had a grandfather who would help him when he would feel frustrated when he was little. He enjoyed listening to his grandpa's stories from his younger days. He was still very young when his grandfather passed away causing him to create Chester to help him cope with the loss.

I was wondering around the camp since it was our first day here. Honestly thought I was gonna die if Mike didn't keep me from falling off the log earlier. Where is Mike? I started looking for him when I spotted him sitting on a log by himself. So I approached him...
Y/n:um hello? M?ke:huh? Who is it?! Y/n:(hey,it's that old man voice he was doing earlier. I think his name was...Chester?) umm,it's y/n... Chester:well what do need? (He asked impatiently) Y/n:oh nothing,just wondering what you're doing here by yourself Chester. Chester:the dining hall was too darn loud! And the food was hardly edible! Y/n:oh. And how did that make you feel? Chester:so darn frustrated! Haven't eaten all darn day!
I listened to Chester talk his frustrations out for what seemed like about an hour. I know Mike said he was an impression,by he seems to "real" to just be an impression in my opinion.
