The Wrong Instincts

Anti was having a great day.

Not only did Chase give him cheese to try and still win back his love but Jackie even gave him some of his salmon he had for lunch!

And Henrik scratched his back for him in JUST the right spot making him purr like a race car.

Jameson even got him some new toys to play with! Currently, they were in the kitchen and Jameson was playing with Anti with a feather attached to a wand, making him jump and chase it around.

Anti's eyes were wide and wild, going for the kill!

Henrik sighed, "I vish you wouldn't play with him in zhe kitchen. At least go in the living room away from food?"

Jameson looked put off and kinda irritated but stood up to try and lure Anti away.

Jackie groaned out loud, trying to look at the paper.

"What's wrong, bud?" Chase asked him.

"It doesn't make any sense. How could he have just vanished? Where the hell did he go?"

Anti had a feeling he knew what Jackie was talking about.

Henrik sighed, "You mean Anti?. .  Vell . . . humanoid Anti?"

Jackie nodded, "I've looked everywhere for him but I still can't find him. Not to mention he hasn't swung by the house in forever, too. I'm getting worried"

Anti halted and watched them curiously.

'Worried? Why would Jackie be worried about not finding me?'

Chase snorted, "Take it easy, man. Maybe he's just off on a vacation or something off to mess with someone else? Have you called Sean, Mark or Dark?"

"Ew, of course not" Jackie cringed, "I'd wouldn't even ask Dark to borrow a fucking pen. Guy's a creep"

'You're not wrong there'

Chase hummed, wondering out loud, "What if Dark kidnapped him?"

Jackie stared at Chase with a new look of fear in his eyes, "You think so? Shit. . . . Nah, I think he'd be gloating about it already"

"Vhy are you so concerned anyway?" Henrik asked him, "Not like we really KNOW him"

"I guess"

Anti's tail and ears drooped a little, 'Do they really just. . .. want to to because they're just curious? If I was in trouble, they wouldn't. . . . help me? I mean, why would they? They're right. They know me better as a cat than they ever did as. . . . .a person'

Anti was so out of spirits now, he didn't even care that Jameson now had the feather in his face.

He just swat it away and stalked off sulking, confusing Jameson greatly.

Winter was slowly approaching and it was already getting really cold outside. Anti would sort of hiss when he felt the cold air from the door leach anywhere towards him.

But something started to bother him.

He could hear something  . . .like a scittering.

Something scratching and crawling around the walls.

He was very confused and thought he was going crazy until one day, he finally spotted the source.

A mouse.

It was dark outside and most of the others had already gone to bed. Usually he'd be in Marvin's bedroom but since he had kept hearing the noises, he wanted to investigate more at night.

There it was in the kitchen in a corner, munching on a stray crumb from dinner.

Anti's instincts seemed to kick in and his ears, body and tail dropped down and he froze as still as he could.

His pupils dilated and he edged ever so slowly and silently towards the mouse.

He didn't know what he was really doing but he didn't care.

He wanted to kill that mouse.

Anti got closer and closer until he was just a few feet away. Since his fur was black, he blended in a lot more in the darkness.

Anti leapt towards the mouse but it seemed to be quicker and bolted.

Anti was hot on its trail, not caring what he ran into or knocked over to get to it.

The mouse squeaked in terror as he got to the living room and Anti almost grabbed it before the rodent changed it direction, heading for the front door.

Anti didn't even notice Jackie had opened the door, coming back home from a night patrol.

Just as he opened it, the mouse escaped outside.

But Anti wasn't going to let it go that easily!

He didn't even hear Jackie shouting for him to stop. He just kept running until finally, the mouse was getting tired.

Anti leapt at it once more and felt it's fur and blood in his mouth. His heartbeat was racing as he crouched over it, marveling in his successful kill.

But as his adrenaline rush died down. . .. . .

Anti soon realized something horrible.

He was outside.

He couldn't hear Jackie anymore.

He had no idea where he was.

And it was cold as fuck outside.

He was in trouble.
