Darkness Descends

Chapter Five

Early in the morning, the moon just rising, I got dressed and snuck out of the castle to join the ralliers. Maybe if people see me protesting against my own father people will join our fight for protection. I become the reason the rally gets bigger,

"There will be a revolution in this century!" Someone yells in the crowd.

"Overthrow Donevin!" Another one yells. I finally decide to speak my voice,

"We need to make our own new troops and train them, I know my fathers army. They're professional trained young to be fit for the royal army, if we go in to attack my father unprepared the royal troops will take us down instantly. If that happens it will just make my father happy. If Donevin watches our rebellion fall apart it will make him happy. Our demise will make him happy!" The crowd screams, showing their support for my speech. I feel Kerians eyes behind me, I turn around and run towards him,

"I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to write to you back." I say loudly, trying to be heard over the yelling crowd,

"It's okay, are you alright?" Kerian says while gently moving a piece of my hair behind my ear. I blush lightly,

"I'm alright, thank you. What are you doing here?" I ask

"I'm getting recruits for our new army, I'm gonna be the Major General" Kerian says with a smile on his face. My heart drops, I didn't want Kerian possibly get hurt or die in this rebellion.

"What? You're gonna fight?!" I slightly yell in disbelief,

"Yes, I'm doing this for the future of Transylvania, so we can give this place the peacefulness and safety it once had. All of us here lost the trust we had in your father. We need a new ruler, countless people are getting killed out here because your father is pretending to be ignorant about this whole situation. I'm willing to put my life on the line for all of us, and if I do live and this rebellion works, maybe the royal family and barrons can be-" Kerian gets cut off by a man yelling my name. I look up to see my brother Orion, clearly angry about me being in a rally.

"Aurora!" He yells again.

"Meet me inside." He says in a serious tone.
