(y/ns POV)

Once Teresa and I finish our lunch we head to the homestead to talk about what Thomas said.

"What did he say!?!" I ask immediately after I close the door.

Teresa sits on her bed and starts talking, excited. "He said that Newt heard us talking last night, after he came in to see if you were okay. He knows you like him, but he likes you too. After we went to sleep Newt ran to Thomas's room to ask him not to tell me when I talked to him, but Thomas told me anyways because he thought you should know. He told me not to tell you unless the time was right but I couldn't not tell you. Newt doesn't hate you, he likes you!"

I just stand there, dumbstruck.

"He- he does?" I say once I can speak.

Teresa nods excitedly. "I told Thomas to have Newt ask you out so you guys can be together but Thomas said Newt was too nervous."

"Actually, he asked me to hang out at the bonfire tonight..."

"He what!?!" Teresa jumps up from the bed.

"Yeah! I don't think it was a date or anything but he talked to me!"

"This is so exciting! I think they're talking in Newts room, we need to know what's going on," Teresa says, walking over to the wall.

It's silent for a few seconds, until we hear Newt say, "hear anything?"

"No, it's weird I know they're in there," Thomas responds. "Maybe they left?"

"Probably," Newt says, sounding very disappointed.

"We should get back to work anyways. Don't worry, you'll see her tonight," Thomas says before we hear them both leave the room.

"They had the same idea," Teresa says. "Y/n, they wanted to hear your reaction when I told you what Thomas said. They had to have known that I would tell you."

"That's not my worry right now, I think tonight might be a date, but I'm not ready for a date! What do you and Thomas do on dates, what even is a date?" I ask, anxious about the bonfire.

"Y/n relax, on our first date all me and Thomas did was hold hands and at the end we hugged, you'll do fine. He likes you too so you don't have to worry," Teresa says, calming me down.

"Okay, I guess you're right. We aren't even sure if this is a real date."

"Just relax until the bonfire, and then just be yourself. We already know Newt likes you, there's nothing to worry about."

"Okay. We should get back to work, we're really late," I say, looking outside and seeing all the gladers back at their jobs.

"Shuck! We are late. You can go back and stare at Newt for a few hours and then we can come back here before the bonfire. Okay?"

"Okay," I say before leaving the homestead.
