"Where...where am I?" Xu Maiyi asked aloud, her voice shaking slightly.
A soft voice replied, "Young Mistress, you're in your bedchamber. You've been ill for several days."
Xu Maiyi's gaze fell upon a maid, dressed in elegant silk robes, who was kneeling beside the bed.
"Ill?" Xu Maiyi repeated, confusion etched on her face. "What do you mean? I don't remember being sick."
The maid's expression turned sympathetic. "You've been suffering from a high fever, Young Mistress. The doctor said it was a blessing you recovered so quickly."
Xu Maiyi's eyes widened as she threw off the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. But as she stood up, the room began to spin, and she stumbled.
The maid rushed to her side, supporting her. "Young Mistress, please be careful! You're still weak."
As Xu Maiyi regained her balance, she caught a glimpse of herself in a nearby mirror. Her eyes widened in shock.

The maid's expression turned puzzled. "Young Mistress, you're...Xu Dao. The daughter of the esteemed Xu family."
