"HAHAH NO WAY," Medri almost falls off the chair laughing.

"YEA I KNOW! And that's when Juliette-"

"Umm, I hate to interrupt you two... but it's getting kinda late."

You stop mid-sentence to frown at Ace, but see him gesturing out the window where the sun has finally set, revealing the dark night sky and the glistening waves reflect the crescent moon. Realizing that the short goodbye you were supposed to have with Medri quickly turned into a long tea session, you hurriedly glance at the clock hanging above the front door and see it's way past 7.

"Shit, you're right. We should probably leave."

"Noooo, already?" Medri sighs as you stand up. "You know you don't have to worry about overstaying? You're always welcome here."

"Aw thanks, Medri!" her heartwarming comments always brings a smile on your face. "I would love to stay, really. But we kinda have to go if we wanna make it."

"Make it to what?" her eyes light up with curiosity and you realize you've slipped up a bit too much.

"To the concert!" Ace jumps in resting his arm on your shoulder. "Some band called The Longarms is playing at the town square tonight!"

"You two are going to a concert... together?" Medri arches an eyebrow.

"Yep, we decided to go after seeing a poster of them when we were at the festival," Ace nods.

"You two went to the festival... together?" she glances back and forth between Ace and you before settling her eyes at you, giving you the look again.

"Yea..." you avoid her piercing eyes as you try to hide the blush spreading across your cheeks.

"Well, then I won't keep you up," she smirks as she lifts her hands up in defeat. "Have fun!"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to just leave so sudden..."

"Nah, it's alright. Just make sure to visit soon."

"Of course I will!" you hug her goodbye. "I'll see you around."

"You better!" she squeezes you tightly before she leans her head over to whisper in your ear. "But also wtf? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't tell you because it's nothing!" you whisper a bit more loudly back.

"Mhmm sure..." she finally let's go of you. "Nice meeting you, Ace!" she waves over your shoulder to Ace as he opens the front door, letting in the cool, evening breeze. "Take care of y/n for me, ok?"

"Of course," he nods shortly and waves back.

You give her one last frown and resist the urge to jump out the window, before finding peace and walk out the door Ace holds for you.

The first steps outside again are quite refreshing, making you shake away the embarrassment of this encounter. The clouds are finally starting to clear from the night sky and the previously bitter wind is now only a gentle breeze lightly brushing your skin. Curious about the previous pouring rain you reach out your hand past the roof above you. To your relief, not a single raindrop touches your skin and the only water remaining from the storm is running down the slanted roofs and down the drain.

You grin happily as you jump down on the dock to enjoy the calm weather.

"So, new window this week?" Ace walks up behind you.

"Yep!" you let out a sigh of relief. "No more windy nights."

"Again, sorry 'bout that..." he avoids your eyes. "But don't worry, I'll cover it."
