After talking to their mother, both Ayesha and Sarah made their way to their room. Ayesha sat on the bed, carefully removing her hijab as she looked at her sister with a playful glint in her eyes.

“Appi,” Ayesha began, her tone teasing, “I’m guessing you’re finally going to tell me all the details now, huh? Like who this guy is and what’s going on with you suddenly planning to get married? Just yesterday, you said you weren’t even thinking about marriage. Now, you’re talking about him like he’s the one.”

Sarah let out a small laugh and shook her head, sitting down beside Ayesha. She wasn’t quite sure how to explain everything. “Well, it’s not as simple as it seems,” she started, rubbing her hands together nervously. “You know, when Ammi and Abbu showed me his picture and asked me to meet him, I was a little hesitant. I wasn’t really ready for something like this. I didn’t even want to go through with it at first, but then... things changed.”

Ayesha raised an eyebrow, eager to hear more. “Things changed? How?”

Sarah took a deep breath. “When I saw his picture, I wasn’t expecting much. But then I learned something that caught me off guard. Do you know who he is?” Sarah asked, her voice quieter now, trying to build some suspense.

Ayesha, now completely intrigued, looked at her sister. “Who, Appi? Just tell me already!”

Sarah smiled, glancing away as if trying to find the right words. “He’s... my maths professor,” she said, looking back at Ayesha to gauge her reaction.

Ayesha stared at her in disbelief. “Your maths professor?” she repeated, as if the words didn’t make sense. “Wait, hold on... You mean the guy who teaches you at university? The one who gives you all those crazy assignments and makes you pull all-nighters?”

Sarah nodded slowly, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Yes, the very same. I was just as shocked as you when I found out. I didn’t even know what to think at first.”

Ayesha blinked, trying to process the information. “Okay, I’m not going to lie—this sounds like something out of a movie. Your professor is the guy you're supposed to marry? But how did this even happen? Wasn’t it super awkward at first?”

Sarah let out a quiet laugh, her expression softening as she began to recount the details. “It was awkward, to be honest. I wasn’t sure about any of it. But then, Mom and Dad insisted I meet him, so I agreed to go for a coffee with him just to see what it would be like. I didn’t think it would go anywhere, but, well... when I showed up at the café, it was like a completely different world.”

Ayesha leaned in closer, her curiosity growing by the second. “What happened at the café? What do you mean by a ‘different world’? Did he surprise you or something?”

Sarah nodded, her fingers nervously tracing the edges of the blanket on the bed. “Yes, he did. When I walked into the café, I expected it to be just like a normal meeting, you know? But then I saw him—my maths professor. It wasn’t just the fact that he was the professor who taught me, but how he was in person. He wasn’t the strict, stern teacher I had seen in class. He was warm, kind, and approachable.”

Ayesha was listening intently now, her eyes wide. “Okay, now you have to tell me—what exactly happened when you two sat down? Was it... was it comfortable? Or did you feel out of place?”

Sarah smiled faintly. “At first, I was definitely out of place. You know how professors are—they can be intimidating, especially if they’re your teacher. But when we started talking, I realized that we had more in common than I expected. He was just a normal guy, with normal interests. He talked about his passion for teaching and how he enjoyed helping students succeed. He asked about me too, about my life, my goals, and my dreams. And the weirdest part was... I felt heard. Not just as a student, but as a person.”

Ayesha sat back, still trying to process all of this. “Wait, so you’re telling me that you went from being completely unsure about marriage to now thinking you might actually marry this guy? Your maths professor?”

Sarah nodded. “I know it sounds crazy, but that’s exactly what happened. I never imagined I’d be sitting across from him at a café, talking about life. But there was something about how easy the conversation flowed that made me think, ‘Maybe this is something worth exploring.’”

Ayesha was quiet for a moment, looking down at her hands as she tried to understand everything. “So... after that meeting, did you know right away that you were going to move forward with it?”

“Not right away,” Sarah admitted, looking thoughtful. “I needed some time to process everything. But after I thought about it, I realized that this wasn’t just about him being my professor. It was about us getting to know each other on a different level. And when I looked at him, I didn’t see my teacher anymore. I saw someone who could be a partner.”

Ayesha looked at her sister, her eyes full of both admiration and concern. “Wow. I mean, I never would have guessed this. But it sounds like you’re sure about him, right?”

Sarah smiled, her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. “I think so. But it’s still a lot to take in, you know? It’s not something I ever planned, but sometimes life throws things at you, and you have to make a decision. I guess I’m just trusting my gut.”

Ayesha leaned in, her tone turning more serious. “I want you to be sure, Appi. You deserve someone who makes you happy, not just someone who happens to be your professor. But if you think this is right for you, then I’ll support you. Just don’t rush into anything without being completely sure.”

Sarah nodded gratefully, her heart warming at Ayesha’s words. “Thank you, Ayesha. I know this is all happening so quickly, but I’m trying to figure it out. I want to take my time, but at the same time, I don’t want to let the opportunity slip away.”

Ayesha smiled softly, her teasing tone returning. “Well, I have to admit, I’m kind of curious about this maths professor now. When do I get to meet him? I’m dying to see who could make my serious, reserved sister so... not-so-serious about marriage!”

Sarah laughed, her nerves easing a little. “You’ll meet him soon enough. And who knows? You might even like him!”

Ayesha raised an eyebrow, still grinning. “We’ll see about that, Appi.”
