Chapter 1 Why does drama follow me?

     Alice's POV: Ring.... Ring... RING! I open my eyes hearing my phone go off. I reach towards it and see Jace's caller I.D. ugh. I toss down my phone and lay there looking at the ceiling. I hear my message alarm go off.

      May as well check the voicemail. I pressed play and I hear Jace's rough voice. "Alice.... I was wondering if you wanted to go clubbing tonight? I'm starting to think your ignoring me... PLEASE CALL BACK. Or else i'm coming over."

     The voicemail ended and I glared. He has been calling me since 6:00 AM! My shift hasnt even started at work yet. I sigh and climb out of bed. I only have a hour to get ready for work and I don't want to get yelled at by my boss again.

     After getting ready I walked over to the cafe a few blocks away that I work at. I enter through the door and the familiar trill of the welcoming bell rang. I smiled and walked over to my boss. When he saw me he glared.

        "Mrs. Gordy you are late... again." I sighed, "I'm sorry I have had a lot of drama going on and I will do extra shifts." He grimaced, "Don't bother. Just go entertain the paying customers while your fellow employees serve them."

        I narrow my eyes and walk on stage and set up my guitar. My job here is pretty much entertaining them with guitar and singing. My boss doesn't really appreciate it... nor anyone. He is kinda a grouch.

       I grab my guitar out and look out at the few people that are actually watching. I start strumming the guitar and I start to sing nevershoutnever On the brightside. I start the beginning:

I met a man of two feet tall

This man was quite ambitious

In a world that is so vicious to us all

I said, "Hi," as he replied

He said, "Listen to these words

That I have lived by my whole life

Just look on the brightside - you're roughly six feet tall"

I met a man of 12 feet tall

He towered like a giant

In a world that was defiant of his height

I said, "Hi," as he replied

He said, "Listen to these words

That I have dreaded my whole life

"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be

And you're only as small as the world will make you seem

When the going gets rough and you feel like you may fall

Just look on the brightside - you're roughly six feet tall."

I am a man of six feet tall

Just looking for some answers

In a world that answers none of them at all

I'll say, "Hi," but not reply

To the letters that you write

Because I found some peace of mind

Cause I'm only as tall as my heart will let me be

And I'm only as small as the world will make me seem

When the going gets rough and I feel like I may fall

I'll look on the brightside - I'm roughly six feet tall.

      I look out at the crowd and only a elderly couple applauds. I smile modestly and say into the microphone, "Thank you."

      After a few songs I see someone I dread come in. My own boyfriend. He glares at me. "Why havent you been answering me?" I bite back a rude remark and smile. "I had to do work all day. sorry."

      He chuckles sarcastically. "Yeah right, Alice." I narrow my eyes. "Look Jace, i'm not in the mood."Well maybe your in the mood for this?" He puts me up against the wall and starts letting his hands go down my hips.

        I push away, "No Jace. I have work." He glared. "No.. what about we have some time to ourselves?" He starts getting closer to me like he was about to make out. I slap him. "No Jace! no MEANS no!"

       He suddenly raised his hand and hit me on the cheek. I sobbed and I run away from him. I go backstage and look in the mirror. I see a bruise forming on my face and I sigh in anger. I pull my grey hoodie over my head and walk to the back door of the cafe.

        I hear Jace yelling my name but I ignore it. I suddenly hear my phone ring and see a text from Tori. "Hey can you meet me at my house? Please it's an emergency." I reply back and start dashing to her house which is a 5 minute walk from my house.
