When Eva called later that early morning, Taylor never answered.
Maybe it was just a one-time thing...
She was excited to speak to the blonde again, to hear her voice and her jokes. But it was whatever.
Eva walked to the bathroom, again that morning to admire her new buzzcut, she really did look hot as fuck. After applying some cherry chapstick, snapping a quick selfie, and posting it on her Instagram story, Eva got up to get dressed for her run.
Clad in black running shorts and a sports bra, she stepped out of her home onto the streets of New York City. She popped her Airpods in and began walking swiftly, which quickly turned into a jog, then a run. After a good thirty minutes, her music stopped, and she felt her phone buzzing in her pocket. She stopped and leaned against a lamp pole, taking her phone out of her pocket, she read the name of the person calling her.
Incoming call... Taylor Swift
Accept ... Decline
Eva decided to not answer, her reason unknown, she kept telling herself it was because she was busy on a run. Besides, she didn't wanna seem desperate. Her music continued as Strawbery Fields Forever by The Beatles started to play and she resumed her original pace. That was until her phone started ringing again.
Ugh, that blonde. Eva pretended as if she wasn't leaping for joy in her head and as if she didn't wanna answer the call, so she ignored it again. But Taylor wasted no time calling again, so Eva answered.
"¿Puedo ayudarte?" Eva spoke in a slightly annoyed tone. She was very thirsty and out of breath, and as always, didn't bring a water bottle with her. "Huh?"
"Can I help you?" She repeated, this time in English. "Why so bitter?" Taylor plopped down on her couch at home. "You interrupted my run." Eva started to walk as she spoke sternly.
"Boo, it's 8 am. Go to bed." Taylor said disgustingly, "Actually, good job staying fit. I never get off my ass."
"Boo, you whore." Eva quoted from her favorite movie, "Sorry. I had to." She added, making Taylor chuckle, "No, I love Mean Girls. You're good. Oh shit! I saw your buzzcut on Instagram, amazing. It really suits your head shape."
"You're not the best at this compliment thing. But... thanks?" Eva laughed. "Oh, hell." Eva cursed under her breath, but just loud enough for Taylor to hear it.
"What's up?" The blonde asked curiously. "I'm fucking lost." Eva breathed out a laugh, making Taylor burst out laughing. "You're so rude! In my defense, I just moved here from LA like... last month!" Said Eva.
"What street are you on?" Taylor asked as her laughter died down. "Uh... Starson." Eva replied.
"Oh, I'm close by. I could send you my location and you could stop by, I'd drop you off at your place?" Taylor proposed sweetly. "Ugh, you're a lifesaver. Yes please and thank you."
"Alrighty, sending it now." A couple of silent moments later, Eva received a text from Taylor, her location, just like she had said she would send.
"I can be there in..... wait.... now." Just as Eva said that Taylor heard her doorbell ring, making her laugh and get up from her couch. "Hi." The blonde said as she answered the door, Eva burst out laughing.
"What?!" Taylor asked with an insecure tone in her voice. "I really don't know, I'm sorry, nice to see you, Tay."
"Yeah! I invite you into my home, and you laugh at me. Have you no manners?" She huffed. "Sorry, sorry, it's just, the giant unfinished cat painting in the background. I love it."
"I know, it's awesome!" Taylor pulled Eva inside and shut the door, "Shoes off, please. The painting is just cool shit."
"Oh of course, who doesn't take off their shoes in their home, or anyone else's?" Eva sat on the bench beside the door and removed her black running shoes. "Psychopaths, that's who. Can I get you something to eat or drink?" Taylor stood, watching the brunette remove her shoes in almost an eerie way before Eva got up and Taylor led her further into the home.
"Water please." She answered. "No food? Have you had breakfast?" Taylor asked.
"You sound like my mom. No, plus I'm not hungry." She shrugged again, sitting down on a kitchen island stool. "No, I'm getting you food. I've been down that road before, it does not lead to a good place. You were just on a run, it's a quarter till 9, so you're getting breakfast. Now, how do omelets sound?"
Eva laughed softly, "Depends on what you're putting in them." Taylor opened her industrial-sized fridge, which was unsurprisingly filled with all sorts of snacks and foods, including expensive cat food and some leftovers. "Um, what do you put in an omelet?" Taylor deadpanned.
"I don't know." Eva laughed a bit. "I usually just do eggs, cheese, and jalapenos."
"Sounds good. Hey... so you speak Spanish? Where are you from?" The blonde questioned, as she got out the three ingredients, along with some salt. She desperately wanted to know more about the elusive brunette.
"England, I was born there, grew up there almost my whole life I spent summers with my abuela, but summer is actually winter over there so I guess winter? Then moved here to go to acting school. But my parents live in Argentina." She explained all in one breath. "Yeah? Cool shit. Is Spanish your first language?" Taylor smiled as she started to beat the eggs in a bowl.
Eva shook her head, "Nah, I do speak it fluently though, whenever I'm around my parents and stuff."
"Say something in Spanish," Taylor said playfully. "Um... ellas mejor sean buenas..." Eva spoke.
"What does that mean?"
"They better be good." Eva smiled warmly. "Ugh, you're no fun. Say something better next time." Taylor huffed, making Eva roll her eyes playfully, "It's not my fault you're hard to please!"
"Literalmente podría estar maldiciendo en español ahora mismo y nunca lo sabrías porque cuando me preguntas qué dije, no diré nada." Eva smirked as she spoke in Spanish once again. [I could literally be cursing in Spanish right now and you would never know because when you ask me what I said, I won't say anything.]
"Huh?"
"Nothing." Eva hummed.
After a bit, the omelets were done and the two ate their breakfast in a comfortable silence.
"You're literally a lifesaver, I swear. If I was still running I would've passed out by now." Eva stood up and headed over to the sink. She washed her dish and cup and then placed them on the drying rack.
"Sorry, I stank up your whole apartment with my sweaty self. I'll buy you some air fresheners." Eva joked. "You better," Taylor got up and rinsed her dish off too. "You ready to go?" She sought while drying her hands off.
Eva, who was on her phone replying to a message, stayed silent for a second before answering "...yup." Eva replied before putting her phone back in her pocket.
"Alrighty," Taylor answered.
Soon enough, Taylor pulled in front of Eva's house, admiring the home its style and beauty. "Thanks a lot, Tay. You're the best."
"Anytime! Bye!" Taylor watched with a smile as Eva entered her home.
and she couldn't wait to see her again.
