six

Eva normally woke up early, around 5 or 6 am. And today, even though she was staying at Taylor's place, it was no different. She didn't even need an alarm anymore, she would just automatically wake up around the same time every day.

Her eyes fluttered open around 6:15. She slowly sat up to stretch her back cracked, making her cringe. Taylor stirred and turned to face Eva, her eyes peeking open. "Don't go..." She mumbled, into her pillow. Eva chucked at her disheveled appearance. Her hair was crazy, and there were remnants of mascara from the previous day around her eyes. Taylor yawned before attempting to sit up, but failing miserably.

"I have to get on set." She smiled softly and yawned also. "In like... three hours stay here. Are you running away because you hate me?" Taylor pushed her bottom lip out in an attempt to look sad.

"Yes, actually I am," Eva replied playfully. "You're the worst!" Taylor scrunched her eyebrows and gave Eva a light shove.

"Anyways, we can hang out a bit before I leave... maybe we could make breakfast or something?" The brunette suggested, her Latina accent slipping out in some words. "Sounds good," Taylor said as she sat up.

The two were finally up and in Taylor's bathroom a couple of minutes later. Taylor gave Eva a toothbrush and promised to keep it there if Eva ever stayed over again.

"So what, you're planning on inviting me again?" Eva asked as she squeezed some toothpaste onto her new toothbrush, poking Taylor in her side playfully.

Taylor laughed and nodded slowly, "Perhaps." She shrugged. "Depends on the breakfast you make me," Taylor added while wetting her toothbrush under lukewarm water.

Eva rolled her eyes playfully as she started brushing her teeth. They stood there brushing their teeth as if it was second nature or something. A comforting air and silence filled the room.

When they were done, Taylor led Eva to the kitchen, sat on a stool, and watched her look through the fridge and pantry.

"Hmm," She hums, "Maybe... no. Uh... hmm.... what about just... bacon and eggs?" Eva arched an eyebrow as she turned to look at the blonde. "I only have turkey bacon." Taylor grimaced, slightly embarrassed.

"You've gotta admit, the greasier and unhealthier the better." Eva gave Taylor a pointed look. "But I don't mind turkey bacon." She flashed a smile, bringing out the bacon from the fridge and eggs.

"There's sourdough bread in that dish. I made it yesterday morning, so it should still be good. It's been out all night though." Taylor pointed at a little white clay bread dish.

"Really? You make your own bread?" Eva asked in surprise. She barely had enough motivation to toast her own bread, let alone make it. Taylor nodded a proud look on her face, "Yup."

"Wow, you're perfect." Eva gushed. Taylor laughed and shook her head, "No, I'm not,"

"Okay... you're damn near it then," Eva said, as she began to crack the eggs onto the skillet with melted butter on it. Taylor blushed as she replayed Eva's compliment over and over in her head. "You really think so? You're not just trying to flatter me so I'll like... let you stay over again?"

"No, but that may be an added bonus. But seriously... anyways, d'you like ketchup on your eggs?" Eva asked as she plated the eggs, which she decided last minute to make scrambled.

"No! Thats disgusting. Yuck!" Taylor stuck her tongue out in disgust. "Don't tell me you do... do you?"

Eva slowly nodded, "Sorry? But adding ketchup is the only thing that'll make me wanna eat scrambled eggs." She placed Taylor's plate in front of her but the blonde pushed it back over to Eva.

"What's the matter?" Eva asked, her smile had faltered ever so slightly. "Nothing, I'm just waiting for the bacon too." Taylor smiled, gazing into Eva's brown eyes.

Slowly, Eva's cheeks turned red, and she attempted to casually hide it by resting her head in her palms and placing her hands over her cheeks. "What??" She giggled.

"Nothing, nothing... can a girl not look at her friend?" Taylor tilted her head, still staring into Eva's eyes. "Not in that way she can't." Eva shook her head.

"What way?" Taylor breathed out a laugh. Eva looked at Taylor in a way that said, you know what way, you know what you're doing.

"In a way what's making me blush." She mumbled under her breath "Huh?" Taylor hummed with a coy smile. "... in a way that's... making me nervous... that's what I said." Eva cleared her throat and turned around to flip the bacon, though she could feel Taylor's stare burning through her.

"Bacon's done," Eva said as she placed the bacon onto her and Taylor's plate. She moved to the other side of the kitchen island and was about to sit next to Taylor when her phone started ringing in her pocket.

"Can I take this?" Eva asked as she took a seat on the rustic kitchen island stool that very well matched the rest of the apartment. Taylor nodded, "Yeah go ahead."

She picked up the call and held the phone between the side of her face and her shoulder, "hello?" She answered, dragging out the last vowel in a playful way.

"Hi, what are you doing?" Briana asked, she usually liked to make small talk before cutting to the chase. "Eating turkey bacon. What's the matter?"

"Just reminding you we have late lunch at 5," Briana spoke, and Eva could hear the keys of her MacBook clicking in the background.

"Yeah, I didn't forget... also just call it super."

Briana scoffed, "No, ew... remember 5 pm at Osteria Carlina. I'll send you the address, don't blow me off again or so help me Jesus I will break your door down."

"Okay, okay, okay, I won't. I'm having breakfast with someone really important to I gotta go now," Eva spoke, making Taylor smile.

"Bye, remember 5 pm at Osteria-" Briana started to talk before Eva cut her off by hanging up.

"Who was that?" Taylor questioned. "My publicist Brianna. She just called to remind me about us having super.." Kaia looked down at her plate, "You can have my egg and some of my bacon." Taylor asked, intrigued. "My publiscist Brianna. She just called to remind me about us having supper reservations this evening." Eva exhaled before speaking calmly, "You can have my eggs, and some of my bacon." Eva moved her plate toward Taylor.

"No, eat it, c'mon. Don't force feed yourself... but eat." Taylor's gaze softened. "Ugh, okay, I'll try."

"Please do, I care about you." Taylor placed her hand on Kaia's back and watched her as she began to eat, "What if I don't finish it?" Eva blurted out.

"That's fine, just eat something."

"Tempting, but no, eat. C'mon." Taylor's gaze softened to that of a concerned friend, as she shifted the plate back over. "You don't have to finish, or force yourself, but... please? For me? I care about you."

"Okay, I- I'll try," Eva shrugged, taking the smallest piece of bacon and taking a bite.

Taylor watched, this time in a more comforting way as Eva finished her breakfast, but all the brunette could do was replay Taylor's words in her head.

'i care about you.' what way did she mean it? a friendly way, right?
