Chapter 5

The following day Ricardo looked forward to seeing Juliet but she did not show for his morning check up.

"Nurse were is Jul.. I mean Dr Baker today? " he asked the nurse in attendance
"Oh, she is not in today, she called in sick, but will be back tomorrow most likely."
"May I have her number please?" he asked.
"Sorry sir I cannot do that, it's against hospital policy only the doctor in question can give you their contact details."
"Listen very clearly, you must know who I am, and I can easily buy this place and you will be the first person I release of their duties here, so it's either you give me the number or we have a problem."
The nurse gave in, terrified of losing her job, and gave him the number.

Juliet was still in bed feeling sore from the previous nights encounter. After getting home and cooking, Anthony had started complaining about the food stating it was cold, yet he had taken his sweet time to leave his office when she had told him that the food was ready. He started complaining that she showed more care towards her patients than she did him, which led to another one of the same old arguments they always had. This argument turned to a physical fight which resulted in a sprained wrist and some bruises on her back and face.

Juliette POV

I got little sleep but the pain was unbearable, I prayed there was no internal damage from when he had kicked me.
I decided to call the only person I trusted to help after an episode with Anthony.
"Greg, are you busy?" I asked in a weak voice.
"Juliet, is everything alright? Are you at home? I am on my way there," he said without giving me a chance to respond.
I heard a car pull up, and knew it was none other than my best friend Greg. I had left the door unlocked unable to bear the pain of walking around the house.

"Juliet! Julie, where are you!" Greg shouted getting worried.
"I'm in the living room Greg."
"Oh my God, Julie. Who did this to you?"
She gave him a weak smile, good to see you too Greg, I think you know the culprit.
"Wait till I get my hands on him, he is a dead man."
"Don't bother yourself I am leaving him I need your help, I cannot take this anymore, it's become a game for him, we argue, fight and he apologizes only to do the same thing again. I just want out Greg."
"Shh, shh, it's ok Julie, I got you. All the paper work is done all that's left is serving him the divorce papers and you are not staying here, I will set you up by my place. I am not leaving you here for him."

Did I mention Greg is a lawyer, my lawyer.
"Thank you Greg, you know I love you right? You are the best friend a girl could ask for."
"Come on Julie you know I will always be here for you, you are the little sister I never had, he chuckled. Come on let's get you cleaned up, then we will pack up some clothes for you."

Greg's law firm was one of the top law firms in Frankstone, and he owned a lovely 5 bedroom beach house. As soon as they arrived Greg showed her to her room and told her to get some rest. "I will be back in a few hours, if you need anything just ask Anita."
"Anita is around, I thought she was still visiting her parents."
"No, she came back yesterday. Don't worry about anything, I have instructed the security to not let Anthony anywhere near this premises, you know how I like my privacy."
Thank you very much Greg. I will be out of your hair as soon as this divorce is settled, just serve him the papers already.
Very well, will do just that. Let my go see Anita.
Anita was Greg's wife and her close friend also, they were expecting their first child in five months time, I couldn't wait to be an aunt, I thought to myself as I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up startled by my phone ringing.
"Hello? "Juliet asked in a sleepy voice.
"Juliet. I'm sorry for waking you up. How are you feeling?" asked the silky voice she recognized to be Ricardo's instantly waking her up.
"I... I'm feeling much better thank you, how did you get my number?"
"Don't worry about that, I just wanted to hear your voice. I really missed you this morning, Julie."

"Mr Andrews please don't call by that name, it's only reserved for close friends or family," she said in a clipped tone.
"But I thought we were friends Dr? I apologize for overstepping the boundary, I am after all just a patient of yours."
"Ricardo, wait I a sorry for my tone, I'm just tired that's all. How are you feeling today, I hope you are not giving the other doctors any problems." she said with a slight chuckle.
"No not at all, they are pretty boring compared to you," he said in a serious tone.
"Thank you Mr Andrews, I will see you tomorrow, get some rest now, will you," she said softly.
"Anything for you Juliet, see you tomorrow," he said in a gentle tone.
