.
Lithar sat in one of the living rooms in his grandfather's house, waiting for his return, ignoring the person sitting quietly beside him.
He was busy talking to the head of the household guards and the chief servant, giving them some orders and instructions.
He didn't live in this house, but his grandfather entrusted him with most of the household matters since his grandfather didn't like to get involved in such trivial things, as he saw them as.
And Lithar... he knew his authority was growing in both their work and family matters.
He waited for the day when he would have full control over everything.
Then, he wouldn't have to worry about someone else taking his place and position—the one he'd worked for his entire life.
He glanced at Ruham out of the corner of his eye, who was sitting quietly beside him, yawning.
Yes... he wouldn't allow anyone to take what was his.
Lithar: Go to sleep if you're tired.
Ruham didn't answer at first but remembered his grandfather's words and replied: I'll wait for grandfather.
He knew that his grandfather would be worried about him at that moment and would want to see him immediately.
If Ruham were sleeping, his grandfather would remain anxious because he wouldn't wake him up and would just wait for him.
So, Ruham resisted the fatigue, waiting for his grandfather, sitting next to Lithar, who was engaged in a boring conversation with the staff and his grandfather's clients.
Lithar: This is unacceptable. Tell him to meet me in my office as soon as I leave. How can he not care about something like this? Do you think Sir Hazem will be kind to him after what happened? Do you think he'll forgive him without any consequences?
Annoying.
Lithar was extremely annoying.
Without thinking, Ruham whispered: Annoying.
Lyithar turned, having heard the word: What did you say?
Ruham adjusted his posture: Nothing.
Lithar, in an authoritative tone: I asked you, and I expect an answer without any lies.
Ruham, in a low voice: I said you're annoying.
Lithar without real care: Apparently grandfather can't discipline you properly. Does he allow you to be so impolite in front of him without any consequences?
Ruham lowered his head, feeling both anger towards Lithar and embarrassment for being spoken to in such a manner in front of the servants.
Lithar: Aren't you going to apologize?
Ruham remained silent, refusing to apologize.
Lithar, sharply: Should I inform grandfather about your disrespect and your behavior today? This isn't the first time you've acted this way. Maybe I should suggest some punishments for you to face.
Ruham bit the inside of his cheek, remaining silent.
He wasn't used to being spoken to like this.
Since he was a child, his grandfather had treated him with kindness and tenderness, and no one had ever spoken to him this way, as if he were beneath them.
Even Miqdam... his behavior toward Ruham had been different.
The other would bully him, mock him, and even hit him.
