" Hello, can I help you" asked the older woman behind the desk
" Yes, I'm looking for the officers in charge of the shooting on May view lane"
" One moment please" the older woman responded type in the computer " oh looks like that would be detective Reyes, his office is down the hall on your left"
" Thank you" Mr. Funk said before following the directions she gave him
Knock knock
" Hello, what can I do for you ?" Detective Reyes asked not even looking up from his paperwork
" I'm Mr Funk, I'm here to get some information regarding the shooting at my mother house on May view lane" Mr Funk stated stepping into the office
" Oh Right, I'm sorry I meant reach out to you, umm honestly Mr.Funk we search the house and interviewed all the witnesses and we came up empty" the detective applied finally looking up
" Empty? How is that possible?" Ask mr Funk shocked and confused by what he just heard
" All our witnesses claim they didn't see anything, There was No gun and your son was the only victim, no one else was harmed"
" What about my mother?"
" That we don't know, we searched the entire house top to bottom and there was no sign of your mother. When we asked her guest each one of them said they had no idea where she went"
" What do you mean ? Where is she ?"
" I'm sorry that's all I know" Detective Reyes said in a Dismissive town
" Why wasn't I informed?"
" Again my apologies about that but as you can see I'm busy with paperwork, Besides I'm no longer in charge of your mother's case. Now if you would excuse me I should get back to work"
Mr.Funk walked out of that office feeling angrier than before. Insteading of clearing things up he was just left with more questions. Questions like How could they just let his case go cold so fast? And why weren't they looking any farther? Or Where was his mother? And how had no one else at the party been hurt and Why were they lying to the police?

"Honey, I'm back, and I really need to talk to you. Where are you ?" Mr.Funk shouted walking in his front door" in the kitchen" Mrs Funk shouted back
" You will never believe this-Mr.Funk started as he made his was to the kitchen " I went to the police station and spoke to one of the officers and-what is all this ?" He asked as he entered the kitchen and found his wife sitting at the table with the papers from earlier layed out side by side
" This is what your son was trying to tell you, apparently You're parents weren't who they said they were. Well at least your Mother isn't" Mrs Funk replied in a stern tone, while holding out the DNA test.
Mr.Funk slowly took the test from his wife's hand, shocked by the result he took a quick seat then picked up the newspaper and began reading over the article " I don't get it, none of this makes any sense if my mother isn't my mother why didn't they tell me ? And This article my Dad-He was a good man he would never- " It's right there in black and white, I mean it's possible it wasn't him per se but Justin and Annie found it in a secret room behind a wall in your parents storage unit, Why would they have it if he wasn't the man witnesses described at the scene" questioned Mrs Funk interrupting her husband
" Did you say a secret room ?" Mr Funk asked sitting forward in his seat, putting both sheets of paper back on the table
" That's what the kids said"
" That's why," Uh?" " That's why the police couldn't find my mother when they were searching the house. She must have been hiding in there"
" What are you talking about ?"
Mr. Funk explained what happened when he went to the station
" the secret room may explain why they didn't find her, but that doesn't explain why nobody said anything? Or the reason why she shot our son?"
" Maybe they know more than we do, and She probably wanted to scare him into not saying anything to us"
" That doesn't make it right"
" I know, and we are definitely going to let her hear it but first we are going to that storage unit" mr. Funk stated getting up from the table
" Not so fast !" Shouted Mrs Funk while grabbing her husband arm to stop him " First You are apologising to your son"
" Yes, where is he?"
" in the playroom watching Hank" answered Mrs Funk before placing a gentle kiss on his arm than letting him go.
*Knock *Knock* mr. Funk knocked on the playroom door to announce his presence as he entered.
" Daddy !" Hank shouted happily, running over to greet his father
" Kiddo!" Mr Funk replied back while bending down to hug him " Justin can we talk?" Mr. Funk asked his oldest as his youngest went back to playing
" Mom, asked me to keep an eye on Hank so she could talk to you, she's in the kitchen" Justin replied staying focussed on his little brother
" I know, I already spoke to her, she told me about what you and your sister found, that's actually why I'm here i owe you an apology, I shouldn't have snapped at you like I did, you were trying to do the right thing by sharing something important and I reacted wrongly and i apologies for that"
" It's okay, Dad, I get it your going through a lot right now" Justin responded now looking at his father
