Alexandria looked at her shocked. "You want us to sneak out in a place we already don't know the layout of?"
The shadow gave her a look.
Alexandria took a minute to think about this and finally decided on her answer. "I guess we'll be all right. After all, Sun was nice. Even though he's incredibly overbearing." she said and immediately looked around to see if he had heard her. After determining that he wasn't around, she looked at her shadow. "How are we going to do this?"
The shadow ran along the floor and tried to determine the best escape route. When she came back, she said 'Over by the wall, there's a vent...'
Alexandria looked a little unsure but really didn't want to stay another night in the Daycare. It's not that she disliked Sun, but she didn't feel safe here. She looked sadly in the direction that she last saw Sun, but ultimately nodded. She quietly got out of her pillow bed and moved the blankets over. After staring at the pillows for a bit, she took two and stuffed them under the blanket to make it look like she was still sleeping. She looked at her shadow again and said "Lead the way."
They walked quietly through the Daycare, staying vigilant for Sun. As they passed by the playset, they heard humming and Alexandria immediately ducked into one of the tunnels. Sun stopped and turned around slowly, like he was scanning the area. After determining there was no one there, he started humming again and pranced off. Alexandria let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding and sighed deeply.
"That was close" she whispered to her shadow. The shadow just rolled her eyes and continued to lead the way. They finally made it to the vent they were searching for and Alexandria looked around quickly to make sure they weren't followed. She determined that Sun was on the opposite side of the Daycare and started to unscrew the bolts.
'How are you doing that?...' the shadow asked her.
"I had a friend back in elementary who showed me how to take apart ventilation shafts. Honestly, I think he was a delinquent." She struggled for just a minute before finally popping the last screw off. "Got it!" she said a little too loud. She immediately covered her mouth as she heard bells jingling her way.
'Hurry!...' her shadow said as she entered the tunnel.
Alexandria crawled inside as quietly as she could while trying not to panic. She quickly put the plating back on and steadied it as best as she could. She hid the screws in the tunnel so Sun wouldn't get suspicious. She scooted backward and put a hand over her mouth. Sun pranced over and stopped in front of the tunnel. He leaned down and looked inside. Alexandria thought she was done for, but her shadow enveloped her completely so she would blend into the darkness.
After a minute, Sun stood back up. "Hmm, creepy" he said as he pranced off. When the jingling of his bells could barely be heard, the shadow unenveloped her.
"Thank you." Alexandria said as she tried to hug her shadow. The shadow just looked at her with a sad smile as Alexandria remembered she didn't have a physical form. "Oh, right." she said as she turned to face the tunnel's entry.
'After you...' the shadow insisted. Alexandria took a deep breath in and then began to crawl.
They crawled for a few minutes in the dark tunnel and Alexandria regretted not bringing along a flashlight. "Do you think we're almost out?" she asked.
The shadow just shrugged. 'How would I know...'
But before Alexandria could say something, they were met with another opening. She got to work unscrewing the screws and placed them gently next to her to minimize noise. After she got the last one out, she took the plating and pushed it outward. They both stepped into the light and found themselves in the middle of the Pizzaplex. "Wow" Alexandria said as she took everything in.
There were statues of the main cast: Glamrock Chica, Freddy, Roxy, and Bonnie. They were all jamming away happily as gold statues. She had an astonished expression and walked up to Glamrock Bonnie. She didn't know why, but he captured her attention. But before she could touch the statue, her shadow called her.
'Over here Dri, I think I found something...'
Alexandria walked over and stared at where her shadow was pointing to. "A room?"
'This is Freddy's room. He can guide us....'
Alexandria hesitated a moment. "I don't know...what if he tries to hurt us?"
The shadow crossed her arms. 'He's literally the nicest animatronic ever. He wouldn't even hurt a fly...'
Alexandria looked at her and then finally caved. "Fine, but we're doing this my way." They both snuck over to his room and peered in through the window. "Hmm, I'm not seeing anything." Next, they walked over to the door and stood there. "Should we knock?" Alexandria asked but the shadow just shrugged. She put up her hand to knock while her shadow watched, but then a gut feeling told her to stop.
Her shadow looked at her concerned. 'What's wrong?...' but Alexandria covered her mouth. She put a finger up to her lips and mouthed to be quiet. Determining that the coast was clear, she led them both back to the vent and closed themselves inside.
'What was that about?...' the shadow asked with slight attitude.
Alexandria looked at her and started to shake a little bit. "I don't know, I had a strange feeling not to go in there." Her shadow looked at her for a long while before shrugging and trudging ahead. They decided to try and find an alternate route that could maybe lead closer to the entrance. If they found that, they could at least make an escape plan. Alexandria stopped moving suddenly and looked behind her.
Her shadow also stopped. 'Dri...?' But before they could talk about it further, a small mechanical white-and-pink- colored spider popped out from a nearby tunnel. It looked at them and snapped its teeth.
"RUN" Alexandria shouted as adrenaline began to kick in. It was hard to maneuver in these small tunnels, but they both shoved their way through as they crawled for their lives. Finally, an exit appeared and they both jumped out. They immediately turned to look behind themselves to see if the spider was still following them. Thankfully, it saw they leapt out and continued backward into the tunnel.
Alexandria collapsed on the floor and panted heavily. "What was that thing?!" she asked when she finally steadied her breathing.
The shadow floated upwards. 'Not sure...It was scary...'
Alexandria sat up and looked around. "Where are we now?" She stood up and started to study her surroundings. "It looks like we're in a...bowling place?" The shadow followed close behind her as she walked. "Hmm, everything is shut off for the night but the pins are still set up." They continued to walk through the alleyways and check out the food stalls. "Man, everything really is closed for the night" she said and put down an empty container of soda.
Just then, something sprinted by them. Alexandria froze in place and her shadow prepared herself to fight. The creature sprinted by again and this time, scratched Alexandria's face. "Ow!" she said as she put her hand to the fresh cut. It was actually pretty big, and her fingers started to become stained from the blood. She got a little closer to her shadow and darted her eyes around to pinpoint this creature. She spotted him and blocked him from lunging at her. She ended up hitting him with a bottle she picked up from the floor earlier.
The creature stumbled around for a minute and they saw their opportunity to run. Once the creature regained its composure, it sprinted full speed at them. "The exit is right there!!" Alexandria pointed and her shadow floated behind her. Right when they reached the doors, however, the creature tossed them aside.
He took out a lock and placed it over the door handles. As the lock clicked into place, he took off his sunglasses. "You brats are here past operating hours," he smirked, "And Monty don't like visitors."
