The Plug's Daughter
Chapter 19:Club Chaos
Houston,Texas
July 25th,2023Alazhá's POV:
Alazhá's friends were piled up in her room like it was a therapy session. Zori was stretched out on the bed, Mariah sat cross-legged on the floor, and Keisha was in the corner scrolling through her phone. But everyone's attention was on Alazhá, who was slumped in her chair, arms crossed and brows furrowed like she was plotting somebody's downfall.
"Girl, you gon' have to get out this funk," Zori said, breaking the silence. "You lettin' that nigga mess wit yo vibe."
"I'm good," Alazhá said flatly, but her tone said otherwise.
Mariah raised an eyebrow. "Nah, you not good. You over here mad as hell and still ignorin' his calls." She pointed at the phone vibrating on the desk. "That's the tenth time today, boo. He blowin' you up like his life depends on it."
"I said, I'm good," Alazhá snapped, side-eyeing the phone like it owed her money.
Keisha finally looked up. "He probably just tryna explain himself. You gon' at least hear him out?"
"For what? So he can feed me some more lies? Nah, I'm straight," Alazhá said, cutting her eyes.
Zori sighed and stood up. "Alright, since you wanna be stubborn, we takin' you out tonight. Club time."
"Nah, I ain't in the mood," Alazhá said, shaking her head.
"You gon' get in the mood," Mariah said, smirking. "We hittin' the club, and we finna get you drunk enough to forget his ass even exists. Thank Ya."
Gettin' Ready for War (aka the Club):
Two hours later, the room smelled like Spritz spray, lip gloss, and YSL Libre perfume. Alazhá stood in front of her mirror, perfecting her edges while Zori tightened her body wave wig in the reflection.
"Okay, the lace is givin' scalp!" Zori said, fluffing the hair.
"Y'all know the vibes," Mariah chimed in, dabbing on her Fenty highlighter. "Now, what we wearin'?"
"Two-piece or nothin'," Keisha said, slipping into a gold shimmering two-piece.
Alazhá stared at her own outfit in the mirror—a dark wash grey two-piece that hugged her figure just right. She applied a final coat of lip gloss, giving herself a quick pep talk. Forget Romani. Tonight's about me.
