The Plug's Daughter
Chapter 2: The Warning
May 16th, 2023
Houston,Texas

The next day, Zhá couldn't get Bully outta her mind. That look he gave her, like he knew something she didn't, had her head spinnin'. O'mari was on his usual 'keep it cool' tip, talkin' about how nobody should be up in her business, but she couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to change around here.

Oakwood Heights wasn't no place for new faces. Everybody had their role, and if you didn't fit, you got disappeared. That's how her pops ran things—straight to the point and ruthless when it came to his territory. And nobody, not even a bold-ass dude like Bully, was gonna change that.

Zhá was in the kitchen, scrollin' through her phone when she heard the front door slam. It was her pops. He wasn't the type to say much unless he had to, but you could feel the tension in the air when he walked in. He tossed his keys onto the counter and looked her way, his eyes sharp.

What's this I hear about some nigga named Bully?" Big D's voice was low, almost a growl.

Zhá didn't flinch. She'd grown up with the weight of his presence. "You mean the guy who tried to talk to me yesterday?" she asked, not making a big deal of it.

Big D's jaw clenched. "Don't play with me, Zhá. That man ain't just 'some dude.' You need to stay away from him."

"Why?" Zhá shot back, genuinely curious. Bully didn't seem like a regular nigga. He had that fire in his eyes, that something that didn't fit into the mold. She couldn't deny it, something about him felt... different.

Her pops sighed, his voice hardening. "He ain't like the rest of these dumb ass niggas round here. He's dangerous. And I don't need you messin' with someone who don't respect the rules."

Zhá smirked. "Since when did I ever follow the rules, Pops?"

Big D locked eyes with her. "You will now. I built this empire with blood, sweat, and tears. You think I'm gonna let some rookie come in and jeopardize everything I've worked for?"

Zhá didn't say anything for a moment. She knew the drill. Her pops didn't play when it came to his empire. But something told her Bully wasn't the type to back down. He might be new to the block, but he wasn't scared of anyone.

Big D noticed the silence, his eyes narrowing. "I'm serious, Zhá. You stay far away from him. You hear me?"

Zhá looked her pops in the eye, the weight of his words sinking in, but she wasn't gonna let him control her every move. She nodded slowly, but deep down, she knew this wasn't the last she'd see of Bully.

As Demario walked away, Zhá's mind raced. She wasn't some helpless little girl. She was a woman, and if Bully wanted a piece of the game, she'd make him work for it. But the real question was: Was she ready to play?
