Everyone was walking through the trees, Richard being carried by Peter and Yaz, carrying him over their shoulders. He was making them a little slow, but they weren't going to just leave him behind. His injury was looking worse the longer they went on.

"Guys, we might need to take a break," Yaz said, seeing he was injured.

"Come on, lean him against the tree," Peter said, putting his father up on the tree to lie down.

"Ah." Richard groaned as he leaned back. "Remind me to tell Masrani I resign if I see him again."

Then they heard Ben scream, getting them to freak out and jump over to him. "Sorry, I stepped on a twig." He tells them.

"Ugh, come on, man."

"You done gave me a heart attack!"

"I should step on you."

"It's okay, Ben," Darius said. "We're all on edge."

"And lost."

"Yeah, we've been out here for a while now," Sammy said. "Darius, we sure we're still headed towards the park?"

"Well, we'd be sure if I still had my phone, because it has a GPS, a compass app, and is also a phone!"

Yaz groaned at Brooklynn. "Sammy didn't steal your phone! No one stole your phone! Can we please stop talking about the phone?"

"You guys! You guys, you guys, you guys." Ben called. "Could you all yell at each other quieter, please?"

"My fellow campers, chill!" Kenji said. "What we need here is someone who can make the hard call on what to do next. Since I'm obviously leadership material I'll do this. And my first decree as leader is for everyone to stop talking and just listen to Darius."

"Huh?" Darius asks.

"You got us out of camp alive." Kenji said. "Plus, I can blame you if anybody gets eaten.

"Wow..." Richard groaned. "How did all of this happen?"

"That was our question," Peter commented. "What kind of creature is that... Indominous Rex?"

Richard sighed and knew that he should explain it if they were going to survive the monster. "It's a genetically modified hybrid."

"Genetically modified?" Peter asked in shock. "That is a thing?"

"Well, it has always been a thing," Richard explained. "We always tend to fill the gaps in the dinosaur DNA with other creatures."

"What did you splice into this one?" Yaz asks.

"A lot..." Richard sighed. "The main DNA was based off of a T-Rex... obviously. But the others were velociraptors, tree frogs, and I believe cuttlefish."

"That is how she can camouflage." Peter took notice. "But...where did this intelligence come from? It knew to take out the support beams. It used its hands. No dinosaur does that."

"That..." Richard sighed. "That was my doing."

"How?" Darius asks.

"I added a separate DNA strand. I wanted to see if we could make an intelligent dinosaur." Richard explained.

"Why would you want to do that?" Peter asked with a scoff.

Richard sighed. "Because someone approached me with a business opportunity."

"I do not like the sound of that," Sammy said, getting a little too close to home for her.

"He said that his boss was looking into an idea to splice the DNA of humans. Give them special abilities. Similar to the X-Men. Mutants. Create... Mutates." Richard continued to explain. "I don't know who he worked for, I only went through him. And... the idea of human DNA splicing on people intrigued me."
