Princess Peach has always been kidnapped from Bowser for as long as she could remember. She'd been stuck in cages for days, weeks, even at times months. Not a single subject dared to save her until he came along.
Once again, she'd be kidnapped and Mario once again had to come to her rescue. She felt guilty that he would put his life out on the line for her. She would always apologize to him for being so weak. But Mario, he dismissed it, he would always say something like "it's not your fault" or "Bowser just doesn't know when to quit."
After Mario left the palace, she remembered the first time. The first time he rescued her. She'd be in Bowser's scorching hot castle. She had seen many guys come and just get pounded to the ground. Most of them being nobles, but then he came along. The image started appearing in her mind, the memory playing like a replay.
~*-Flashback-*~
"Another one, burnt to smithereens!" Boasts Bowser proudly. "Impressed yet Princess?"
"If this is another ploy to get me to marry you it's still a no." Peach puts her foot down.
"You'll fall for me, eventually. Or just be in there till the end of time~" Bowser says, attempting to intimidate her.
Peach would never fall for a monster. Why kidnap her, just because she's a princess and rules a wealthy and prosperous Kingdom doesn't mean she wants a husband. Honestly the thought of marriage never crossed her mind.
"Lord Bowser! Another human attempts to break through the castle security to challenge you!" Kamek states, summoning himself in and out of the room.
"Hm, how quick is this puny one going to go down..." He chuckles, tapping his claws on his throne.
"Sire!"
"WHAT NOW KAMEK?!"
"It appears he isn't noble either, rather a commoner."
"Thanks for that information."
"So, princess, got any bets on how quickly he's gonna die to my claws?" Bowser asks menacingly.
"Honestly, no, no I don't and frankly I don't care. I'd rather die here than marry you if it comes down to no one ever getting me outta here." Peach says, annoyed.
Peach sat in her cage, fidgeting with her fingers for what felt like hours. Honestly she thought the guy had long been perished by now, until he burst through the throne room doors. He was much shorter than she thought. He was adorned with a pair of blue overalls, a red shirt, white gloves, and a hat which she assumed to be his first initial on it.
"BOWSER, I'LL A BE TAKING THE PRINCESS BACK TO HER CASTLE!" The man speaks with a thick Italian accent.
Peach took a moment to think what her type of guy could be. Definitely not either of them. One was short, and would probably die in one hit, the other a cruel king forcing a marriage upon someone.
"Oh and what makes you so sure? Honestly you're so small and tiny I could eat you for breakfast." Bowser laughs.
His laughter was quickly ended by a stomp on the head from the guy. Which caused Bowser's nose to emit smoke.
Guess the guy is only moments away from death now, might as well close my eyes to make this slightly less painful. Peach thinks to herself.
To her surprise and joy, the guy survived. Throwing Bowser into a pit of lava. Of course Peach knew the Koopa King would be back on his feet eventually. The man quickly ran to her cage, and attempted to free her.
"So uh- how long you've a been here princessa?" He asks.
"Months probably, lost track of time long ago. I thought you were gonna be toast to be honest."
"Well we need to get you back to the Kingdom then!"
He finally freed Peach from the cage. However what Peach wasn't expecting is how she was gonna get home. The man picked her up bridal style and dashed through a nearby window, shielding her from any glass.
He activates a tanooki suit and soars through the skies. Peach was taken away by the view. The sunrise was beautiful so high up in the air. She hadn't seen the sun in who knows how long, but seeing it like this was the most stunning thing ever.
He drops the princess back at her castle. Before he leaves however, Peach invites him in for tea and a cake.
The invite for tea and a cake is how it all began, or at least how they got to know each other.
