RYAN'S POV

" I don't care about whatever you're doing. Come home now."

I rubbed my forehead and sighed. " Alright, Mum."

" I'm expecting you to be back within an hour. I don't know why your Dad is giving you so much work to do. Fancy still being at work by 9pm!"

" Mum, I'll there as soon as I can. Don't worry."

" Good. And get me pepperoni pizza on your way back. "

I chuckled a bit at her pizza obsession." Alright. Bye then. " I said and ended the call.

I picked up my things and left the office. There was still quite a number of people around, so I just couldn't understand why Mum was making such a fuss. Mothers.

I tossed my things in the backseat and drove into the city. Everywhere was buzzing with people, irrespective of how late it was. After driving through a few streets, I arrived at the shop where Mum liked her pizza from. Sighing, I went in, got the pizza and soda for myself, and came out. I slowly began walking towards my car.

" No! Don't come near me! Stay away from me!" I heard a lady scream.

" Come on, pretty girl. We mean no harm." A male voice said. I turned towards a dark corner of the street, which was where the voices were coming from, and although I couldn't see them properly, I could point out that there were three guys hovering around a lady, one of them trying to grab her. I walked over to them and tapped the guy who was trying to grab her on the shoulder.

" Hey, back off. She's obviously not interested. " I growled at him.

He smacked my arm." YOU back off. Who are you anyway? Some dude trying to play hero? "

" That's none of your business. Just back off. " I said, trying to hold back the urge to snap his neck.

He pushed me by the shoulder. " I won't. What are you gonna do, huh?" He said, pushing me again.

I turned to the lady and motioned her to hold the pizza and soda. I rolled up my sleeves and faced the guy. He was quick though, as he landed a fist on my chin. I growled when I tasted blood.

Damn it.

I punched his nose, sending him flying backwards. The three of them rushed at me, but hey, I have a black belt in taekwando so, handling three of them was nothing to me. Within a few seconds, they were sprawled on the ground, holding the part of their bodies that hurt the most.

" This should teach you." I smirked at them.

" You bastard..." The guy tried to attack me but his friends held him back.

" Let's go!"

" There's no way I'm leaving without dealing with this punk! Let go of me!"

His friends dragged him away and I smiled at them, feeling proud of myself. I turned to the frightened lady who seemed like she'd pass out any second.

" Hey Ma'am, are you..." I wanted to ask her if she was okay, but I lost my voice the moment I took a good look at her face.

Great. Of all the ladies in the world, it just had to be her.

" Ryan..."

" Laura," I said, trying my hardest to hide my irritation." Why are you out so late?"

" I wanted to get some soda, but those guys..."

" Isn't your brother or boyfriend with you?" I asked and she shook her head horizontally. I sighed and rubbed my forehead.

" Why will you be out so late and alone? You know how guys like this are. Do you know what they would have done to you if I hadn't come over?" I yelled at her and she kept her head low. " Where's your car?"
