the morning began with a rude awakening, the kind that made me question every life choice leading up to that moment. a sharp splash of ice-cold water jolted me out of my sleep, drenching my face, my hair, and half the pillow."good morning, sunshine!" denki's gleeful voice rang out, followed by the sound of his hurried footsteps as he bolted from my room.
"denki, i swear—" i leapt out of bed, my bare feet hitting the cold floor as i gave chase.
the bastard was fast. i barely rounded the corner when i slammed straight into bakugo's chest.
"ugh, sorry!" i groaned, stumbling back.
bakugo, who seemed perpetually annoyed by the sheer act of being alive, glared down at me. "what the hell's your problem?"
"fucking pikachu is my problem!" i snapped, shaking the water from my face like a wet dog.
his red eyes flicked to my soaked pajamas, and to my dismay, a smirk tugged at his lips. "looks like you deserved it. payback's a bitch, huh?"
"you're no help." i huffed, wringing out my shirt.
"didn't offer to help, dumbass." he said, stepping aside to let me pass.
in the kitchen, i found denki crouched behind the counter, snickering like a child who'd just gotten away with stealing cookies. but instead of flying into a rage, i grabbed a towel and dried my hair.
"you're not mad?" he asked cautiously, peeking out from his hiding spot.
"nah." i said with a shrug. "i probably deserved it."
his grin widened. "damn right you did."
"don't get to sassy now sparky." i said earning a said sigh from denki, spark was a nickname we have him back in highschool because he once tried eating a battery for 20$ and almost chocked, he was lucky kirishima saved him or else we would be dead right now.
breakfast was a sensory overload in the best way possible. the smell of toasted bread and melted cheese filled the apartment as sero worked his magic in the kitchen.
"you're spoiling us." kirishima said, hovering over the counter like a hungry dog.
"just bringing a little piece of home." sero replied with a grin.
he placed a plate of molletes in front of me, the crusty bread topped with refried beans, gooey cheese, and vibrant pico de gallo. my eyes lit up at the sight.
"hanta." i said dramatically, "marry me."
"get in line." denki chimed in, already halfway through his first plate.
"oi, don't be so greedy, i want more too." i sad to denki after seeing his plate.
bakugo sat at the far end of the table, eating in silence as usual, but i noticed his plate was already empty—a testament to how good the food was.
the first bite was pure bliss. the beans were creamy, the cheese perfectly melted, and the pico added a bright, zesty kick.
"this is insane." i said, my eyes practically sparkling.
"it's just molletes." sero said modestly.
"it's a masterpiece." i corrected, taking another bite.
after breakfast, we cleaned up and settled in the living room to go over the contract. mina had sent us a copy last night, and sero had printed it out for everyone to review.
