Background: Colonist/Spacer and sole survivor/War Hero
Basically, his birth parents were killed and he was adopted by the Shepard family

Wife: Aria T'Loak
Relationship: Seems like they wouldn't connect but Shepard and Aria truly love each other, to the point that she's kinda a yandere sometimes with him but knows he won't cheat on her.
She makes sure nobody messes with her husband

Also as a side info, he forgot to tell his mom about his marriage...Oops
