Ronan
Her face was still pale as snow as I watched her while she slept. Against the crisp white of the hospital bed sheets it was even more obvious that she had lost weight. In her sleep she looked sickly and frail, a sight I didn't know from her.
The way the dark shadows beneath her cheekbones stood out harshly against the pale alabaster skin brought up dark memories of my own.
Sometimes it seemed like she was a reflection of myself, someone who was so similar to me yet so different.Pushing away the thoughts I concentrated on her form laying on the bed.
The healer had told me exactly what I had already been thinking. She was lacking sleep and food, two things that were essential if someone was to endure my harsh training.Even after being infused with the healing magic she was still unconscious, another sign of how bad her physical state was.
I hated myself for not noticing sooner when I had seen her almost every day even if only for a short time.I should've noticed.
Slowly I began feeling a shift in the atmosphere, a sign that she was waking up. It was crazy to think that by now I knew exactly how she behaved while asleep and awake.
The thought brought a slight grin to my face when remembering how she had pretended to be asleep while watching me change like a perv. With any other person I would've surely been repulsed but knowing that it was her I had even felt proud that apparently she liked the way I looked.Almost unnoticeably her eyelids twitched as if she was trying to fight her way back to consciousness.
As soft as I could with my rough fingers I stroked the skin beneath her eyes, feeling the fluttering of her long and dark lashes. Finally her eyes opened, at first looking cloudy before she blinked the sleep away.
Confused they looked around the room before landing on me."Morning" I said quietly although there was no one but one of the healers inside right now. But even he wasn't paying attention.
Her lips were pulled into a soft grin she couldn't hide while her eyebrows were still furrowed in concentration."Shit, I passed out" she eventually said with a raspy voice.
Quickly I held a glass of water out for her, more concerned about her wellbeing than her words.
She brought her fingers around the glass as if to take it from me but I kept it in my hold.
Slowly I guided it to her lips so she could take a sip."Thank you" she said sounding more awake now.
"So I passed out?" She repeated as a question although the answer was obvious.
