Momo watched in awe and Vi punched at fighting machine game in the tiny arcade they often visited, beginning to beat her own high score.
"Remind me why we bother with this dump?" Mylo asked, picking his nose and then flicking the booger away.
Momo was too busy watching Vi to notice her brother's atrocious behaviour.
Vi backed away from the game slightly, rolling her shoulder to loosen it after the strain of continuously punching.
"Vander said to lay low. Enforcers never come down here, so, this is a good a place as any."
"What's the matter Mylo? You worried Powder's gonna beat you again?" Claggor taunted from the other side of the room, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall.
Momo's attention turned from Vi finally, listening in on the conversation.
"Hey! If she didn't keep fixing these things, I wouldn't keep missin'—"
Powder popped up from behind the stand, a mischievous expression on her face as she held the up the power plug for the gun game. She merged the plug, and suddenly the game came to life.
Momo moved from her spot near Vi's punching game to the gun game.
"Can I try?"
Mylo looked down at her.
"In a minute."
He held the gun up lopsidedly and began shooting at the targets, nearly missing every single one.
Momo had to stifle a laugh. He never did have the greatest of aim. Pity the person who had to use the bathroom after him.
"You guys know I wouldn't take you on a job you couldn't handle, right?" Vi questioned suddenly, removing the boxing gloves from her hands.
"Are you kidin'? That was the best job we've ever done. Maybe just, don't take Powder next time."
He fired the gun a few more times, missing each shot. He groaned before admitting defeat and tossing Momo the gun.
Momo held up the gun and began shooting. She wasn't the greatest, but she was a little better than Mylo. She managed to hit three targets, but only after carefully watching them move back and forth and taking long breaks between each shot.
Next up was Powder, who shot each target with absolute precision and speed.
Momo admired this about Powder, and was even kind of jealous. If she dwelled on it too much, she would go down a whirlpool of things she was jealous of Powder for. Like her friendship with Ekko, her being allowed to go on jobs, her aim, Ekko's agreeing to teach her about inventing.
She was broken out of her thoughts when Powder placed the gun down and walked over to another arcade game.
She turned her attention back to the gun game and shot at the targets a few more times, managing to hit one of them.
Meanwhile, Powder noticed some commotion outside. She peeked through a hole in the colored glass window, seeing an enforcer interrogate someone.
"Hey guys, you should see this—"
The sound of glass filled the arcade as the man who was being interrogated was thrown through the window, hitting the floor and then rolling to a stop next to Vi's punching game.
Momo's eyes widened in terror upon seeing a group of Enforcers. She backed up until she felt the ledge of the gun game stand hit her back.
"Search them," one of the Enforcers instructed, and Momo realized it was the same one that had chased her before.
