The only thing that echoed throughout the quiet living room were my whimpers as I struggled to free my hands from their bounds and pleaded with tear-filled eyes with Kyle to unseal my mouth.
I was deceived yet again, mistook his kindness for weakness when it was a plot to lure me in. Lower my defenses and strike when the time was right.
He was actually pissed that I stabbed him. Decided he would punish me for it. I was scared and sent a silent plea to heaven for some help. I wish I was with my mom, sitting around the island, watching her cook while my father watched the news and my brother played games in his room. I wish things were normal, I wish I hadn't witnessed the murder that night. There were so many things I wished for, things I wanted to take back but couldn't. I felt powerless and inferior and I cried harder because of it.
Kyle sat in a chair facing me, he had a first aid kit laid out on the coffee table, some alcohol, and some sort of IV fluids. He was silent as he worked and it made me worry, what was going through his head? He tore his bloody shirt off, exposing his beautiful body, one I remembered rubbing against as we made love.
He installed the IV in his veins, took a swig of whatever dark alcohol was inside the bottle, and took a few deep breaths to prepare himself for the pain. I winced as he reached for the knife sticking out of his shoulder and squeezed my eyes shut when he began to pull it out.
My stomach churned with disgust at his groans and squeezed my fist for comfort. I reopened my eyes to see him pouring some sort of fluid on the open wound that had blood gushing out of it. He moved with quick precision, his attention never wavering as he began to suture it up with one good hand and put a dressing over it. Then he repeated the process for the open wound in his hand. He breathed a sigh when he was finished and hopped his way into the kitchen. My head was able to move so I watched as he took up some painkillers, filled a glass with water, and took out two packs of green peas from the freezer.
I felt a twinge of guilt as he hopped back over and cursed myself for letting him have this much control over my emotions.
I had stopped crying at his point and was immersed in watching him move about. The silence was somehow calming. He sat on the couch and hung the IV fluid up on the tall standing lamp beside it before throwing the pills back and downing the water. He leaned back with a sigh and heist his foot up before placing one of the green peas on his knees and the other on the back of his head.
I really did a number on him huh, served him right...
Suddenly his eyes sliced to mine, making me jump a little, mine widening in the process and my heart skipped a beat.
"Don't go anywhere," he warned, his voice was low and coarse. I'd never seen him like this before, it was contradicting, I thought I was off the hook.
I mumbled something from under the tape but of course, Kyle ignored me and just leaned back on the couch with his hand over his eyes. I squinted my eyes at him and decided to get his attention somehow and disrupt his rest. Evil shouldn't be allowed to sleep.
My feet weren't tied down so I lifted my left foot, since it was the closest to the coffee table, and used my big toe to tip the glass over. It fell on the carpet but didn't shatter, yet it still made a loud enough thud that Kyle moved his hand away and looked at me.
His eyes sliced from mine to the cup and then back up, I've got your attention bastard.
"Are you done cursing at me and throwing things my way?"
Oh right, I forgot that I began to throw a tantrum when we got back upstairs and I used the closest thing I could find to hit him in the back of the head. It didn't work and Kyle was pissed, he chased after me again and I threw things in his direction before being caught and eventually tied up. So maybe he wasn't upset about being stabbed.
