The last few were slow. Too slow. We got up, Kyle told jokes and I faked a smile, we ate, and then watched TV.

I felt trapped, suffocated, like I was slowly losing my mind. The only thing that was keeping me sane was our neighbor, Ron. He was sweet, being the first person to come and welcome us into the community. He knew Kyle's family, said he lived here for years, and that Kyle was a good kid.

If only he knew.

He gave us fruits and vegetables as a welcome gift. It seemed Kyle wanted us to live like a normal happy couple but this was far from that. Kyle Norman was a murderer. A psychopath who messed with my head and ended up kidnapping me under the guise of protecting me.

But the sick thing was. Underneath all that. I was still attracted to him. I loved the way his deep voice traveled through the air and the way my skin tingled every time our skin touched.

A messed-up part of my brain wanted to feel that touch again.

What the hell is wrong with me?

"Celine, dinner's ready!" he yelled from downstairs. I was sitting on my bed, boredom getting the better of me. I moved slowly, taking in the place as I descended the stairs. We cleaned it up nicely, finished two bottles of bleach in one, almost killing ourselves.

It felt good being with him but the heavy feeling in my chest wouldn't go away.

He was standing by the stove frying some eggs and bacon. I watched from the foot of the stairs, my mind racing with decisions I had to make.

He noticed my presence and gave me a wide, toothy smile. Once it would have made my stomach flip, but now dread settles below.

"Come," he beckons me over. "I made coffee if you want."

Before I can stop myself, the words are flying out of my mouth. "How do I know you won't kill me once you get tired of me?"

Kyle's smile slowly fell. His knuckles turned white from his squeezing the knife. It was a mistake but I just had to know.

He turned and met my eyes and of course, I flinched. He stalked over to me, backing me up into the far wall until my back hit it. He hovered over me like he used to, like I was still his prey. Just like in class and just like RNK.

He reached up and brushed a stray out of my face, twirling once before tucking it behind my ears.

"It's been a while since I've taught you a lesson," he whispered, ghosting his lips over mine. "I think you've forgotten your place."

My whole body locked up and a searing shiver slid its way up my spine. He brought the knife up and in one slice up the front, my shirt tore open and my breasts were exposed.

The back of the cold blade slid against my skin and I hissed. "K-kyle," I cried, arching my back off the wall.

"Shh," he hushed, nipping the side of my jaw. "You've missed me, haven't you?"

I nod without thinking too much of it. I shouldn't want this. I should push him away and set my boundaries.

He brought his lips to my ear and whispered in his husky voice. "If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it from the first night we met."

He walked away from me and it felt like I could breathe again. That was close and way too dangerous. Right, Kyle had way too many opportunities to kill me, if he wanted to I'm sure it would have been easy for him. I guess I was just overwhelmed with all that was happening.

Alaina, I wish you were here.

"I'm heading out," Kyle announced all of a sudden. I looked up and saw that he was grabbing the keys. His eyebrows were tight and his lips were set in a firm line. He was upset.
