Leave it to his best friend to drag him out to a club on one of the busiest nights of the year and then vanish into thin air the second he starts talking to a—-in his words—-blue-haired vixen. Natsu shuddered at the description, hoping that didn't mean the woman actually had pointy ears and a fluffy tail of any sort. Decorated bodies would brush or press up against him as he tried to squeeze past in a beeline for the bar, and he was sick of getting absolutely whiplashed by tails and horns and feathers. But what was he to expect when this place in particular was only welcome to supernatural beings? It was a safe haven for any creature, and the spooky scary tradition of the human realm made it just as easy for everyone to show off who they really were.

He tried to enjoy the atmosphere, at least grateful that he didn't have to hide his horns and tail. But he was a devil, and not a lot of people were attracted to the reputation that tends to bring. And he wasn't too big on going out, but Gray (the aforementioned best friend who Natsu still hadn't seen in the past hour) insisted he should at least have some fun.

So he hovered at the bar, surveying the crowd of dancing witches and pirates and—-a really niche mythological creature he probably wouldn't know the name of even if it was spelled out for him. But then his eyes caught the lingering glance of a blonde woman, one in a thigh-length silk white dress with thin spaghetti straps. Thick gold bands covered her wrists, with matching golden sandals that wrapped up to her calves. Gorgeous white feathery wings adorned her back, folded so as to not smack any near passersby.

Natsu couldn't tell if his vision had gone blurry or if he had lost his mind altogether. But in the dark mixed-color lights of the dance floor, there seemed to be a single source of pure yellow light following above the blonde. And she just looked so surreal—-angelic—-almost. Too angelic. Skepticism suddenly filled the boy's mind as he assessed the situation. He didn't run into too many of them, but when he did, he made it a habit to steer clear. He kept his distance at first, slowly walking a circular perimeter around her before approaching her from behind. But there was just something about her that drew him closer rather than run him off right away. Then he tapped her on the shoulder and waited for her to turn around. "Long way from heaven, huh?"

The blonde beauty looked at him in confusion before her expression slowly morphed into annoyance. "Is this some stupid attempt at a pickup line? Well guess what, buddy, those don't work on me. You think because you're a devil you'll get away with being all sly and sexy...well, you won't." She folded her arms across her chest and cocked an eyebrow up.

Her annoyance completely went over Natsu's head as soon as her brown eyes locked onto his. A wild grin spread across his face. "Did you just call me sexy?" His initial apprehensiveness vanished instantly. He liked her.

The woman rolled her eyes, but it was obvious she was fighting back a smile. "Skip the pickup lines and buy me a drink?"

The two made their way over to the bar where they could at least speak to each other at a reasonable volume without destroying their eardrums. The woman asked for some red fruity drink while he watched her with intrigue. "I thought angels weren't supposed to do bad things like drink...which is a bummer, 'cause I guess that means you can't do me."

That finally earned a laugh from her, one that could light up a dimly lit room. But he assumed all angels had that ability. "I could've sworn I just said no pickup lines," She said before sipping her drink. "What's your name?"

    "Natsu. You?"

"Lucy. Y'know, I really shouldn't be fraternizing with the enemy," The blonde sighed. "I could get into a lot of trouble for being seen with you by one of my friends."

"Oh come on, it's the one night of the year we get to be ourselves. Would you rather I say I'm a human dressed as a devil tonight?" He leaned closer to her. "What do you say, Luce? Are you just a regular human dressed as a beautiful heavenly angel that I met at the club?"

The blonde beauty shrugged one shoulder up and tilted her head to the side. "What would happen if I said yes?"

Natsu acted like he thought about it for a second before saying, "Then I'd ask if we could get out of here to do some human activities."

Lucy leaned in, her lips just barely brushing against his as she said, "As tempting as that is, you were right. I won't be doing any bad things tonight." The woman pushed away from the bar and began to walk away. But she turned around one last time to give Natsu a sickly sweet smile. "But thanks for buying me a drink. Nice to know you've got a little good in you."

He plastered on a shit-eating grin, relishing the last couple of minutes where he got to talk to the blonde beauty tonight. Natsu still didn't like going out though, so as soon as Gray made an appearance again, he dragged him and his best friend right on out of there.
