Little Doll
★
Emily sits on the cold, hard floor of the small windowless room, leaning against the wall, trying to make herself as small as possible.
She hugs her knees to her chest, her body shaking slightly as tears stream down her face. She tries to muffle her sobs, not wanting to give anyone outside any indication of how she's feeling, but the fear and helplessness she's experiencing right now is overwhelming. The coldness of the room only serves to amplify her sense of isolation and she has no idea how long she'll be left there.
She sits there, wrapped in her own tears and surrounded by the cold, sterile walls of the small room. The quiet sobs wrack her body, each one feeling like a release of the fear and helplessness she was feeling. She tries to keep them quiet, not wanting to draw any attention to herself but the isolation and the unknown of her situation is overwhelming and she can't seem to stop the tears and the small, quivering breaths.
Between sobs, Emily manages to choke out a single word; “Why...?” . Her voice is small and shaky, full of pain and confusion. She couldn't believe that her attempt at escape had led her to this point. She looks around the room, searching for an answer to her question, but the only response is the stark, cold silence of the walls surrounding her.
She tries to keep her thoughts from spiraling into panic while she recalls how long it's been since she was brought in there. Her sense of time seems warped. The isolated space making it hard to grasp how much time has actually passed.
She tries to remember any clues or changes in light that could indicate day or night, but all she could see through the silver of light under the door is internal grey. She's been there for some time but the true length seemed like a complete mystery to her.
In her desperation to find a way out, Emily's mind races as she starts thinking about anything that could possibly get her out of the room. Her thoughts flicker through different scenarios each one more unlikely than the last. Her mind works to find any possible escape route, her sense of hopelessness and helplessness only grows.
The feeling of confinement closing in on her, and the silence is almost deafening. She feels an urge to scream, desperate for some kind of release the emotions that feel like they're swallowing her whole. But she can't bring herself to do it, fearing the consequences of making too much noise.
She hugs her knees tighter to her chest, the need to scream warring with her rational mind, which knows it might only bring more harm than good.
As the click of the lock echoes through the room, Emily's head snaps up immediately, her eyes searching the door for any signs of movement . Her heart races as she braces herself for whatever or whoever is about to enter the room, the adrenaline pumping through her veins.
The door creaks open slightly but all she sees is a silver of light and the vague outline of someone standing on the other side.
He stood there in the doorway, silhouetted against the light from the room outside. His presence seems to fill the small room, his stature imposing and his demeanor confident.
There is an air of dominance and authority about him as he takes a few steps further into the room, his dark blue hues locking onto Emily who's still sitting against the wall, trying to shrink herself. He looks down at her,his gaze cool and calculating as he takes in the sight of her small, vulnerable figure huddled on the floor. There's a hint of satisfaction in his eyes as he is pleased with the effect he is having on her, enjoying the fear and uncertainty written all over her face. He takes another step, towering over her as he speaks.
