A few more moments passed, and we both sat there in silence. "I found that symbol on a note at the bottom of a teacup," I said slowly. Persephone's cigarette dropped in a cloud of smoke and ash on the wooden table.
"Tell me everything," Persephone's voice sounded harsh and concerned. So I told her about the dance, falling, Theo. The colors in the teacup and the note with the symbol and how I had also found it in my grandfather's journal.
Persephone listened intensely, and when I had finished she took a deep breath. Shaking her head she mumbled. "I knew you were special, but now it all makes sense." Persephone got up and walked around the room as if she was trying to find something. She stopped as she picked up a folded piece of paper. She walked over to me slowly.
"I believe this is your fate," she handed me the piece of paper. I opened it slowly as Persephone looked down at me distressed. The paper was fragile as if it was hundreds of years old. I gently unfolded the paper and symbols were drawn all over the paper. At first, they were just symbols but then they started to change into words. I read them out loud as they appeared.
"The fey realm and the human world were invisible to each other. Until the doors of each opening, This caused humans to try and destroy the fey's lands. And so the door's closed..."
I looked up at Persephone her eyes saying, 'carry on.'
I continued reading...
"The next time the doors open. It will be forever. One young girl who has her foot in both worlds. Will have the power to either cause the realms to live forever in harmony. Or she has the power to drive both realms into destruction. Whether she chooses light or darkness. She will be more powerful than anyone both realms has ever known."
"How is this my fate?" I asked confused. "I am just an ordinary girl. I don't have my foot in two worlds! I said loudly. I was so confused, nothing made sense but somehow everything did. Persephone smiled, "Do you know how many people can read this?" I shook my head.
"This is written in a language that nobody on earth can read. Unless you are part fey." I stood up shaking my head frantically.
"You are part fey, Elizabeth."
I sat down in the wooden chair defeated.
"H-how?" I asked softly.
"That is a very good question," Persephone replied lighting another cigarette.
