My phone buzzed in my pocket, waking me up from the trance I had been in. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. There were 3 messages from Matthew, I unlocked my i-phone and looked at it.

'Where are you?'

'Liz, are you okay?'

'Olivia said that the cafe's not busy so you can go. She still wants you to come back so we know you're safe.'

I quickly replied back to the messages saying that I was fine, I just lost track of time and I'd be there soon.

"I have to go," I said looking at Persephone who still looked distressed.

I stood up from the wooden chair which screeched across the floor. Persephone looked up at me. "You'll come back on Tuesday. I must warn you, don't tell anybody about what you know." Her eyes turned a dark grey color, like storm clouds before they rained. I nodded my head. "Elizabeth, you can trust nobody, not even your closest friends. Not until you know everything." Persephone stood up and walked me to the door. She smiled at me, "I bet you weren't expecting this today."

And I laughed, for the first time in a few days. Persephone laughed along with me. And somehow it made the situation seem a lot easier to bear.

"I'll see you on Tuesday, Elizabeth." She said as she opened the door, I smiled and walked out into the sun.

I walked back towards the cafe, replaying everything over in my mind. I'm part fey, I kept thinking. It didn't make any sense but saying it over made my skin prickle with excitement.

When I reached the Bluebell, I saw Matthew wiping a table. There were only two people inside, and I walked inside. The bells jingled and Matthew looked over.

"Liz!" he said running over to me. "What happened!" he looked concerned but happy to see me.

"I am so sorry!" I said. "I just lost track of time, everything's been so weird the last few days," I added guiltily for not being able to tell him the whole truth.

"I know," he said softly. "I heard about the dance. And Oliva's just happy you came, with everything going on," he said smiling.

"So she's not mad?" I said innocently.

"No, she had to run to the shops quickly. You just go home, okay?" Matthew hugged me.

"Okay." I said, "Tell Oliva I said thanks." and I walked outside, the bells faintly dimming. I walked over to my car and opened the door. I sat in the seat for a few seconds before starting the car and driving back home.

When I got home, the house was empty as my mother was working. I sat down on the light grey couch in the lounge, my mind was still racing around trying to figure out the information I had previously been told.

'She must be crazy' I thought to myself.

There is no way I could be part fey.

Right?

My parents were normal people, my dad worked overseas so I didn't see him much. He was from a small family and just wanted to keep his wife and daughter happy. My mother was normal as well, she was a nurse and worked funny hours. But there was nothing strange or... magical about either of them really. So how could I be part fey? Nothing made much sense, so doing what the usual teenager would do I decided to google it.

I typed fey mythology into the search bar thinking I should start with the basics of what I was, and then get to the big question of how. I clicked on a few sites, which didn't really tell me much. And then I clicked on one which seemed to know what it was talking about. And then I read something that made me stop breathing.

'A Fairy can be of any element, and can be either light or dark.'
