Heeseung enters his house, and unlike the comforting smell in Sunghoon's, Heeseung smells nothing.
He already wished he was back at Sunghoon's home.
His mother is lying down on the couch, covered in a blanket in front of the TV.
She seemed tired, probably too exhausted to even sense Heeseung's presence, so he goes up to her.
She turns her head to look up at him, then she stares back at the TV as if she doesn't care if Heeseung was there or not.
Heeseung stands still, not really sure whether to go up to her or not, finding comfort in staying a bit farther away from her.
"So if I don't tell you to come home, you're never gonna come?" she tells him, not really meant to be a question even though it was.
Heeseung moves a bit back without even realizing, his heart beating a bit less when he does.
"I was just with Sunghoon the entire time, It's not like I was with a random stranger," he quietly mumbles in a calm manner.
His mom looks at him again, and it was almost as if her stare was piercing through Heeseung.
"What makes you think I would want you here right now," she snaps, causing Heeseung to flinch at her words.
He doesn't say a word for a moment, his mouth unable to say anything, his brain unable to think of what to say.
He sighs and decides to sit on the floor in front of her.
He takes a hold of her hand and caresses it softly, her hand flinching as he does so, like she's not used to being physically affectionate with her son, which she is definitely not.
"Look, I'm sorry, but it's unfair of you to treat me this way. I'm a grown person now," he explains, trying to show his sincerity through his tone of voice.
His mother pauses, her lips parting to say something but she closes them again.
After a moment of staring down at her son's eyes, the eyes that were looking at her with so much emotion, she finally speaks.
"Well I'm sick, and you don't even care."
Heeseung's breath hitches in his throat, getting slightly annoyed, especially due to the fact that he himself was sick these past few days, and if he had told her that, she would not care one bit.
It was hypocritical, and he could not for the life of him handle that his mother was so different from other mothers.
"I do care, that's exactly why I came. To check in on you," he explains, and for a moment, he thought he saw his mother's gaze soften, but with the way she says what she says next, he's convinced it was just his imagination.
"Whatever, I'll tell you if I need anything," she mumbles, clearly not being amused at all.
There she goes, being emotionally unavailable again, and Heeseung couldn't stand that about her.
His heart tightens thinking of everything his mother has been through, especially with his dad's death and how that affected her terribly.
But Heeseung went through dealing with that too, so why does she always push him away?
He lets out a shaky breath thinking about it, heading to his room, irritated with his relationship with his mother.
His breathing started to get back to normal once he closed his door, not being in the same vicinity as his mother calming him down.
