When Lewis told Isadora that he'd join her in the Magic Dimension soon, she knew that it'd take at least a few weeks with him dealing with the grief of losing his wife, having to figure out what to do with her dance studio since no one else would be around to run in in her stead, and announce his departure from his teaching job at Placeria College.
But the very last thing that she would've ever considered was that someday, Lewis would become her teacher.
Stupefied, Isadora stood in the doorway, her jaw dropped as she tried to process the image in front of her. Lewis, on the other hand, seemed to find her inner turmoil humorous. "Miss Isadora, care to take a seat?"
Isadora couldn't bring herself to response and instead dragged herself to the empty desk in the middle row of the classroom.
Without thinking, she reached under her desk and grabbed the textbook, flipping through its pages until she found the desired topic. The words blurred together, forming an incomprehensible jumble of letters. She was exhausted, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.
Namely, Angelina.
Angelina was by all means, dead. That fact was simply irrefutable, especially after Isadora learned that she sacrificed herself just to make sure that she and her brother were safe.
And while Angelina's position as a Celestial Guardian might've been able to protect her spirit, the same couldn't be said for her physical body, which might have been capable of explaining the significant scarring left behind from the battle of their home planet.
But that didn't mean that she wasn't dead.
Yet, Isadora couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. She had felt the warmth of Angelina's skin when they were transported to another realm. It was impossible, she thought. Angelina was bound to Metis. How could she have been transported to another realm?
She remembered the moment vividly—their arrival in the new realm, the strange energy that had enveloped them, and the unmistakable warmth of Angelina's touch. It was as if Angelina was alive, not just a spirit, but truly alive.
Before she could ponder any further, the bell rang, jolting her back to reality. The classroom erupted in noise as students gathered their belongings and headed for the door. Isadora sighed, closing her textbook and standing up.
With countless possibilities floating around within her mind, Isadora struggled to focus on the thick crowds of people gathered in the halls, all scrambling to reach their next class before the bell rung again, acting as their only warning before they would be marked late within the next two minutes.
Fortunately, however, Isadora wasn't held to such a standard as she and the other girls came to the consensus that three of them would remain in the nurse's office to make sure that the girl that they found last night was ok.
And with Flora, Musa, and herself set to stay there for the entire class hour, that meant that she'd be missing all of Griselda's lecture on behavior, etiquette, and the 'importance of discipline in a magical environment'.
All second-year fairies were obligated to take Discipline and Conduct, which focused on instilling proper behavior, etiquette, and the importance of discipline in a magical environment. The curriculum included lessons on respecting authority, following rules, and maintaining order within the school and beyond.
But for Isadora, this class was nothing short of a nightmare. And after she learned from the upperclassmen just how hellish the class was, to say that she was less than excited would be an understatement.
