"Absolutely stunning. Liane, I apologize for ever doubting you." Onalee grinned, her eyes twinkling, while Gia finished up my hair.
Liane stood with crossed arms and a smile of her own. "All I did was pick the dress, you two did the rest. I'd say a job well done, ladies. Too bad that expensive ass dress won't be on for very long. Knowing that Neanderthal, it'll be in pieces by the end of the night."
Onalee chuckled. "Speaking of dresses, we should probably get into ours."
"Don't remind me," Liane groaned, "let's just get it over with. We'll be right back."
Gia hummed in acknowledgement and they followed each other out of the room, closing the door behind them. There was an awkward tension in the air and I suddenly couldn't stop thinking about what happened.
"I'm sorry." I broke the silence.
"For what?" She asked.
Guilt constricted my chest. "For turning you," I stated, feeling the strands of hair in her hands come to a stop as she froze behind me. "I remember how awful the transition was, and the outcome isn't even worth it. I would've rather just died. This isn't something I'd wish on anyone, so I'm sorry for putting this curse on you. In the heat of the moment, I believed it was right, I still do, but I know it was wrong."
She didn't speak, adjusting a few more strands of hair before walking around to stand in front of me, a frown on her face. "You made a tough call that saved my life, you did what a true Luna would've. All that guilt you feel—it's pointless, because had you chose the alternative, I'd be dead and you'd still feel guilt for not doing anything. That's the price of being a leader, and that's something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm okay with this, really, at least I'm alive. I should've thanked you, so I thank you now."
I stared at her in slight surprise, not expecting her to say much of anything let alone thank me, which settled my nerves so well. She examined my features and smiled gently, reaching up to adjust the curled strands of hair dangling down the sides of my face. "You're all done."
She grabbed my shoulders and turned to face the body mirror with me. My eyes landed in the reflection and the woman standing in it was nothing like the one just hours earlier.
The maroon dress hung just above the floor with a slit in my right side, revealing my thigh down to the black stilettos they forced me into. The soft, stretchy, off-the-shoulder fabric hugged my feminine figure from the hips up. My breasts filled out the cups and held it in place, appearing perkier and toned with the push-up effect the dress granted.
My lips were coated with a dark-burgundy matte lipstick. My eyes were outlined with black, thin eyeliner and mascara, also covered with a smoky maroon eyeshadow. Even my eyebrows were shaped and darkened, giving them a much more defined medium arch. My hair was pulled into a twisted bun, two of the same sized strands were left out in the front and curled.
Next to me, Gia wore a forest green halter-neck pencil dress with diamonds, red stilettos that wrapped up her calf, defining the feminine structure of it. She had red gloss lipstick covering her lips and a black mascara on her lashes. Her red hair was straightened and pulled into a slick, high ponytail with a matching diamond headband.
"Wow, I knew what you two looked like and my breath was still taken from me walking back in here." Liane's voice spoke out from behind us. Gia and I turned to see her and Onalee, both in formal attire.
Onalee wore a two-piece dress. The top had a lace bralette appearance, revealing all the skin on her torso except for her breasts. There was a gap over her stomach, then her flared skirt began low on her hips, ending above her mid-thigh. She had her hair curled, thin eyeliner, false lashes, and a pink lip gloss over her lips. On her feet, she had tall black boots with thin high heels.
