The private jet hummed steadily through the sky, the gentle vibrations beneath them a constant reminder of the journey they were on. The soft light of dawn filtered through the windows, casting a warm glow over the interior of the plane. Everyone was settled in, but there was a sense of nervous energy that clung to the air. The safety of their new destination was still uncertain, and the lingering threat of Santino's pursuit loomed over them all.

Taylor sat in one of the plush seats, her legs tucked beneath her, with a blanket draped over her shoulders. Bronze, who had been clingy all morning, now rested in her arms, his little face pressed against her chest. He'd fallen asleep moments earlier, his small breaths steady and peaceful, oblivious to the chaos that had upended their lives.

Brittany sat across from her, the seat next to her occupied by Sterling, who was happily flipping through a picture book. Despite the calm surroundings, Brittany's eyes betrayed her thoughts, her brows furrowed as she gazed out the window.

"Everything okay?" Taylor asked, her voice gentle, not wanting to interrupt her friend's quiet moment but knowing something weighed heavily on her.

Brittany glanced over at her, offering a small smile. "Yeah, just... thinking."

"About Santino?" Taylor ventured, knowing that the lingering danger from him still cast a shadow over their every move.

Brittany nodded slowly, her fingers absently tapping against the armrest. "And about the kids. I can't believe we're running like this, you know? That we're putting them through all of this."

Taylor's gaze softened, her thumb gently brushing Bronze's hair as she watched the boy sleep. "I know. But they're safe now. And as long as we're together, we'll make sure they stay safe."

Brittany leaned forward, her voice dropping to a quieter tone. "I see how you are with him. With Bronze. You've got that whole 'mom' vibe going on, Taylor."

Taylor laughed softly, glancing down at the boy in her arms. "He's a sweet kid. He's been clinging to me ever since we got here. I don't mind though, honestly."

Brittany smiled warmly. "I can tell. It's nice to see you like this, especially with everything you've been through."

"It feels good, honestly. I think having him around helps with everything—keeps me grounded." Taylor paused for a moment, her fingers tracing the edge of Bronze's tiny hand. "I've been thinking a lot about what it'll be like when the twins are born. How I'll be able to balance everything."

Brittany nodded. "I think it'll come naturally. I mean, look at you now. You're doing great. Bronze clearly thinks you're the best person in the world."

Taylor chuckled, her heart swelling at the compliment. "I'm trying my best."

Across from them, Sterling had grown bored of her book and was now perched on the edge of her seat, curiously watching the conversation. She leaned forward, her big blue eyes wide with interest. "What're you talking about?"

Brittany's face softened as she looked at her daughter. "We're just talking about how well Taylor is with Bronze. How great she is at taking care of him."

Sterling's face brightened, and she pointed at Taylor. "I think you're really nice, Taylor. You take care of Bronze."

"Thank you, sweetie," Taylor said warmly, leaning forward to give the little girl a soft kiss on the forehead. "I think you're amazing, too."

Sterling smiled widely, her eyes lighting up with the compliment. Bronze stirred slightly in Taylor's arms but remained asleep, his tiny hand clutching at the fabric of her shirt.

The conversation fell into a comfortable silence for a moment, the steady hum of the plane providing a gentle backdrop. Brittany leaned back in her seat, her gaze drifting to the ceiling as she let out a long breath. "I just keep thinking about everything Santino could be planning. It's like, what if we're just always running? Always looking over our shoulder?"

Taylor's face softened with empathy. "I know what you mean. But Travis isn't going to let that happen. He's determined to keep us safe."

Brittany's lips curved into a faint smile. "Yeah, I know. He's been incredible through all this. But still, it's hard not to think about all the 'what-ifs,' right?"

"I get it," Taylor responded, her voice quiet but resolute. "But right now, we have to focus on what we can control. We can't worry about the future. We can only be here. Together."

Brittany nodded, her hand resting on her stomach. "You're right. I think we just need a little peace, a little time to breathe."

As if on cue, Bronze stirred again, his small body shifting in Taylor's lap. He blinked sleepily and then rubbed his eyes before looking up at her. "Tay-Tay?"

"Hey, buddy," Taylor said softly, her voice full of warmth as she adjusted him in her arms. "Did you have a good nap?"

Bronze yawned and nodded. "I'm hungry."

Taylor chuckled, gently rocking him in her arms. "Well, we've got snacks coming up soon. How about we get something to eat once we're in the air for a little while?"

The toddler nodded enthusiastically, his eyes lighting up at the mention of food.

Brittany leaned back, watching the exchange with a soft smile on her face. "You're good with him. I wasn't sure how you'd do, but you've totally taken to it."

Taylor shrugged modestly, her hand still resting on Bronze's back. "I guess it just feels right. I mean, I've never had a little one depend on me like this, but I like it."

Brittany's eyes twinkled with amusement as she watched her son snuggle deeper into Taylor's arms. "Maybe he's just found his new favorite person."

Taylor's lips curled into a smile, but she shook her head, laughing lightly. "Well, I don't mind. I think I'm getting used to this little shadow of mine."

Just then, Sterling tugged at Brittany's sleeve, her voice a little more serious than usual. "Can I sit with Taylor too?"

Brittany raised an eyebrow but then nodded. "Of course, sweetheart. You can sit with her."

Sterling eagerly climbed out of her seat and made her way over to Taylor, who opened her arms with a smile. "Come here, little one."

Sterling climbed into Taylor's lap, her small body curling comfortably against her. The sudden weight of the two children felt natural, almost like a piece of the puzzle falling into place for Taylor. It was as though, in this moment, with both children in her arms, she had a sense of peace amidst all the chaos that had surrounded them.

"You're good at this," Brittany remarked, watching the calm exchange. "I think Bronze has some competition."

Taylor grinned, looking down at the two children nestled into her arms. "I think I'll manage. They're both pretty great."

As the plane continued its steady flight, the group settled into a moment of peace, their temporary haven from the chaos of the world outside. Taylor held both children close, a sense of contentment blooming in her chest. For the first time in days, she allowed herself to feel like they were truly safe. With Travis at her side and the children she was growing closer to, she knew they had everything they needed to face whatever came next. Together.
