Day 8: up close and personal

Let's just say last night when I attempted to run away... Titan caught me... And it didn't end well.

*flashback*

The door. I could almost taste the first breath of fresh air. Smell the beautiful flowers and run carelessly through the woods I'm currently being held hostage in a house in.

I'm yanked back and I land hard on the black and white tiled floor. Gasping as I recover the air my lungs have lost I look up to see a not so happy Titan.

He glared hard at me at the cafeteria like table and I try my best to avoid his stare. I was given a small plate that contained a price of toasted bread with some butter sloppily smeared on it, a spoonful of angel hair noodles and sausage. Not that the meal was anywhere near hot but cold is better than nothing. I greedily scarf my food down and drink the entire bottle of water.

Titan leads me back to my cage for the day.

Enoch's pov

"Sir I'm upset that I've come by on this condition" Titan says as I invite him in my castle. "What news have you brought?" I ask wearily.

"The girl you took interest to" he trails off.

"What happened" I ask. I don't know for sure if I wanted to even buy the girl so why was he so freaked out over it, but the more I try to deny it, ever since I looked into those mischievous eyes of hers I know I have to have her.

"She's deaf" he sighs.

"WHAT?!" I yell. The one girl that could be a possibility pet for me and she's deaf, could life get any worse?

"Well she has been beaten by the homeschool teacher and his belt strikes her ears and temples, she doesn't seem to be hearing at all" he explains. I motion for him to sit in my office chair I front of my desk while I pace my office.

"Your telling me, that the produce I was interested in, is now damaged and you still expect me to pay full price?" I ask bewildered.

"No-no king Enoch, all I'm saying is that if you still purchase this female... She won't be much good use as a pet if she can't hear you"

"So what? Your telling me I should use her as a servant or a blood donor?" I shoot back.

"King-"

"I want to meet this girl personally, and if I take a liking to her in person I will purchase her regardless of her mental and physical state. Ok Titan?" I ask coldly.

I could hear him gulp and he nods quickly. "We shall drive there today if you wish? I must warn you though she's kind of dirty and has tried to escape" he warns.

"Dirty? This is a pet were talking about not a queen" I rumble. If I fall in love with this girl though I can see myself slowly growing attached to her. No I can't. I'd have to turn her and that's pain I would never put anyone through.

Titans house was nice and warm, and as we move down to the cellars the temperature gets colder darastically.

I frown not liking the idea of her being trapped in a cage in this cold weather.

He flicks the light switch on and the room lights up dimly, looking up I see a few dead lights. I follow Titan down rows and rows of cages, getting impatient and a little upset by these conditions.

"Here she is king" he says and doesn't touch the cage, instead stepping aside and lettin me have my own look. I smirk, smart boy.

I crouch down to the cages height and look through the bars. She was even prettier in person. Her light and dark blue eyes shine in fear and her hair is such a dark red it reminds me of the blood coursing through her plump veins.

No kidding Titan wasn't lying when he said she was dirty. She had some crumbs on her shirt, her hair was knotted and greasy and her face and body had some dirt. She was covered in scares, bruises whippings and cuts. Surprisingly she's still alive. "I would like some alone time please Titan" I request.

He nods and walks to the entrance leaving me with this beauty.

I stare at her intently, searching in her eyes as she seems to be uncomfortable. She looks down at her lap and i decide nows my chance. Taking out a small whistle I have on my keychain I notice she's to distracted by the thread on her shorts to look at me. I blow hard on the whistle causing her to jump violently in her cage and stare wide eyed at me.

I smile, feeling relief wash over me at the discovery of her not being deaf, but she's quite the actress. Unfortunatly, not quite good enough to fool me.

Smiling I slowly open her cage door. "Not deaf I see?" I ask reaching my hand in the cage slowly. She shrinks back and I decide its final. Liking her cage I smile and say "I'll see you soon keeley"

"So I assume you still want to purchase her?" Titan asks nervously.

I nod once and smile, "have you gotten her hearing checked since the punishment?"

"No king enoch" he replied.

"You should have, she isn't deaf" I chuckle and sign the purchase agreement and leave.

Titans pov
She's not really deaf, those words ring through my head. How did he know? Anger courses through me and I head down to the cellars. That little faker.

"You little b-" I start dragging her out of the cage by her hair, her screams like a lullaby. "Do you have any idea how much money you could've made me lose?" I shout and chain her hands up. Drawing my whip back I hit her bare back and her screams seem to ease my anger.
