Luxa led Margaret to the High Hall, with Hazard, Vikus, Dulcet, Tick and Temp following behind. They were greeted by Mareth and Howard, who both gave Margaret a bone crushing hug after introducing themselves.
She doesn't understand how they recognize her. She hasn't been here for so long and she doesn't remember them.
She scolded herself, because of this. She cuddled Temple more and handed her to Dulcet, knowing she was in good hands.
Dulcet gave a small smile and left quickly to wash Temple and change her diaper.
Margaret turned to everyone. Smiling she said,"So, what's new?" They laughed and Hazard pulled her to the table.
Mareth would not be joining them. Dulcet would not be joining them. She washed up and then went back to her friends. Atleast she would have her other friends, but she still wouldn't have Mareth and Dulcet.
The only thing that she couldn't do was not stare at Howard's scars. He didn't have many visible ones, but he still had them.
Just then, 3 bats flew in through the roof. One was gold and immediately went to Luxa. One of the other ones was black and white striped like a zebra.
"Greetings, Princess," she purred, and winked. Well, it looked like a wink.
This was the voice from her memory. The last bat had a light brown coat that had black spots on it. It reminded her of a leopard.
They all introduced themselves. The gold one was Aurora, Luxa's bond. The zebra one was Nike, Howard's bond. The leopard one was named Bara, and she was Hazard's bond.
Everyone sat down, and Margaret felt a small pain. It wasn't really a pain, it was just that she remembered her family was visiting and Desmond would be worried.
She frowned and everyone noticed. "What's wrong?" Bara asked in a soft voice.
"Well, my family was visiting our apartment and my husband is going to be worried. But I'm sure Gregor told them everything."
At the mention of Gregor, everone went silent, glancing at each other with knowing looks. What was that about?
Luxa clears her throat and asks,"So, what else has happened since we parted? It has been a long time since we have spoken to each other."
Margaret smiles at her and starts telling her what she remembers since she moved to Virginia.
When she was around three, they had moved to Virginia. Her grandma had died two weeks after the moved and her whole family was a little depressed. They had stopped calling her Boots, and usually calls her Margaret or Mar.
Soon, she had started school and became friends with Desmond. They had never had feelings towards each other.
Soon, she was in high school, and noticing Gregor acting different. They visited New York with each other, but never stopped by the apartment building. They also never went to a certain spot in Central Park.
She graduated and fell in love with Desmond, who proposed to her three months later. They had Temple together, and decided to move to New York. Desmond had always wanted to go there and Margaret missed her early childhood home.
So they moved there and that day they were supposed to have dinner with her family, who was visiting.
"And then I was showing Temple around the apartment. We went to the laundry room and I set her down. She crawled to the grate and fell. I tried grabbing her, but I fell too. Gregor saw the whole thing," Margaret finished.
They looked at her, thinking. "You have certainly had an interesting life," Hazard said.
"Yeah. Well, what about you guys?" She asked. "I mean, interesting stuff has to have happened. Especially since you're all down here."
They nodded. Hazard started first. He is now a master at Crawler, Spinner, Hissed, Rat, Mouse and he knows some Bat.
He met Bara when he was about ten and she reminded him of Thalia, even though she had her own personality. The became bonds when he turned 11 and ever since then, they truly were best friends.
He became a teacher and still is.
Luxa started her story, but they were interrupted by the door slamming open. Two figures walked in. A rat with a diagonal scar over his eye and an Overlander.
