The night was thick with anticipation as you stood outside the old St. James Asylum, a forgotten relic that had seen its share of horror and heartache. Heavy clouds loomed overhead, casting an eerie shadow over the crumbling stone walls. You felt a mix of excitement and nerves fluttering in your stomach, knowing that tonight’s investigation would be different. This time, you weren’t just a viewer; you were part of the team.
Colby Brock stood beside you, his signature smirk illuminated by the glow of his flashlight. You couldn't deny the rush of adrenaline that surged through you every time he looked your way. "Ready to find some ghosts?" he teased, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Only if you’re ready to scream like a baby when we encounter one," you shot back playfully, nudging him with your elbow. Sam Golbach, Colby's best friend and your other partner in crime, chuckled from behind the camera, capturing every moment.
“I’m getting this on film!” Sam called out, grinning as he adjusted his camera. “If Colby screams, it’s going viral!”
Kat, another vital member of the team, rolled her eyes but laughed. “You two are ridiculous. Let’s focus on the spooky stuff, shall we?”
As the group made their way inside, the air grew colder. You felt a strange pull, as if something was calling to you. It was a feeling you couldn’t quite explain, and you dismissed it for the time being. You were here for the thrill, not to get swept away by any supernatural vibes.
As you navigated the dim hallways, your heart raced. The walls were lined with peeling paint and the floors creaked ominously beneath your feet. “This place is seriously creepy,” you whispered, glancing at Colby, who was already filming himself walking down the corridor.
“Just think of all the stories these walls could tell,” he mused, glancing back at you. The moment your eyes met, an electric spark ignited in the air. It felt familiar, yet completely foreign at the same time.
As the investigation progressed, you found yourself gravitating towards Colby. He was charismatic and brave, yet there was something deeper lurking behind his playful demeanor. You could feel an invisible thread connecting you both, pulling tighter with every shared laugh and whispered fear.
“Hey, y/n,” he said softly as you stood in front of an old, rusted gate that led to the basement. “You okay?” His concern was genuine, and it sent your heart racing.
“Yeah, just a little spooked,” you admitted, rubbing your arms for warmth. “How about you?”
“Just trying to keep my cool,” he replied, flashing that charming smile that made your knees weak. “You know, it’s funny… I’ve always felt like there’s something more to this place.”
“Like a connection?” you suggested, tilting your head as you studied him.
“Exactly,” he said, his voice lowering. “Almost like we’re meant to be here. Like… something is waiting for us.”
Before you could respond, Kat called out from the other room, her voice echoing through the halls. “Guys! Come check this out!”
You shared a quick glance with Colby, a silent understanding passing between you. You felt it too; the pull of fate whispered through the halls, urging you to uncover the truth.
As you joined the others, you couldn’t shake the feeling that something significant was unfolding. The four of you gathered in a dimly lit room filled with old furniture and cobwebs. Sam set up the spirit box, a device used to communicate with the other side.
