During a seemingly harmless investigation of their own supposedly haunted house for a YouTube video, Colby finds himself falling for Y/N, one of the members of their friend group, while Sam tries to keep the scares, and the ship, under control.

The familiar interior of Sam and Colby's house is bathed in the eerie green glow of a night vision camera. Sam, ever the showman, holds it steady. Colby fiddles with a spirit box, and Y/N, a long-time friend and occasional collaborator, adjusts the EMF reader. SAM: Alright, guys, welcome back to the channel! Tonight, we're doing something a little different. We're investigating... our own house. COLBY:(Scoffs) Yeah, because apparently, the comments section is convinced this place is a paranormal hotspot. Y/N: Well, you guys have been doing haunted investigations for years. If *anywhere* is going to be haunted by your chaotic energy, it's this house. Sam chuckles, filming Y/N. Colby smiles almost shyly. He's always been drawn to Y/N's wit and easy laugh. SAM:Okay, okay! Let's get serious. Y/N's our tech expert tonight, Colby's on spirit box duty, and I'm... well, I'm the one who's going to scream the loudest if anything pops out. They split up, Sam filming, Y/N meticulously scanning rooms, and Colby muttering into the spirit box. The atmosphere grows tense. *COLBY'S BEDROOM - LATER* Colby and Y/N are alone. The spirit box crackles with static. COLBY:(Into the box) Is there anyone here with us? Can you give us a sign? A cold spot hits them both simultaneously. Y/N shivers. Y/N: Whoa, okay. That's definitely... something. Colby, more focused on Y/N's reaction than the ghost, notices the goosebumps rising on her arms. He impulsively reaches out and gently touches her arm. COLBY: You okay? Y/N: (Startled, a slight blush rises on her cheeks) Yeah, just... cold. The ghost box crackles again. SPIRIT BOX: Co... lby... Colby jumps back, startled. COLBY: Did it... say my name? Y/N: (Examining the box) It definitely sounded like it. There is some intense staring until they are interrupted. SAM: (Voice echoing from the hallway) Guys! Did you hear that?! The EMF reader spiked in the living room! Colby pulls his hand away from Y/N's arm, a slight disappointment in his expression. *LIVING ROOM * Sam is visibly shaken, pointing at the EMF reader. SAM: It went all the way up to five! Five, guys! That's insane! The investigation continues, punctuated by strange noises, flickering lights, and escalating levels of anxiety. But for Colby, the real anxiety comes from the growing feelings he has for Y/N. *KITCHEN - LATER* The investigation has wrapped up, and they're all exhausted. Sam is already editing footage on his laptop. Y/N: (To Colby, quietly) Thanks for... checking on me earlier. I appreciate it. COLBY: (Trying to play it cool) No problem. Just, you know, making sure everyone's okay. Gotta be responsible, right? He hates how lame he sounds. Y/N:(Smiling) Right. Well, I should probably head home. Long day. COLBY: (Seizing the opportunity) Hey, uh, would you maybe want to grab coffee tomorrow? Just... to decompress after all that paranormal stuff? Y/N pauses, considering. Y/N:I'd like that. COLBY: (Relief flooding him) Awesome! I'll text you! * SAM AND COLBY'S HOUSE - LATER* Sam is working on his computer, and he turns to Colby to ask. SAM:So, how do you think it all went tonight? COLBY: I think I'm falling for Y/N SAM:I'm happy for you, but I think we caught something, and I need your help to check it out. COLBY:I'm on my way! Develop the paranormal activity: Subtly hint at the possibility that the "ghost" is somehow influencing Colby's feelings. Or perhaps the spirit box is amplifying his already existing feelings Sam as a comedic foil and the loyal best friend. He could be oblivious to the romantic tension at first, then become an enthusiastic supporter or a worried protector of Colby.
