Chapter 15
God's word is always sure, and His warnings have been a tender mercy, a gift that many refused. That hour of acceptance has long passed.
Adagio St. John's Journal
Last month an earthquake registering 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Salt Lake City, doing some serious damage to downtown, and North and South Salt Lake.
Two days later, an earth quake registering 9.2 in magnitude hit the west coast destroying most of California, Oregon and Washington. The casualties reached tens of thousands. People who had headed the earlier calling and promptings to flee to prepared places of refuge were kept safe. Some managed to make it to smaller tent cities. Members of other religions also fled to the camps and were welcomed. The rest suffered dearly.
Yes, it was a deadly-tragic earthquake and the damage caused to the west coast was catastrophic.
But the second earthquake that hit Salt Lake City stretching along the Wasatch Front just two days ago was just as deadly and has completely demolished the city. By the time the report came in, thousands of lives were lost, thousands of homes were lost, and the main roads in and out of the city were blocked by debris. A large chunk of I-15 at the point of the mountain is no longer there. In its place now is a massive sinkhole lake that fills the mile-wide drop-off.

Another large earthquake hits Nevada and southern Utah a week later. Though the damage isn't the size and scope of the second Salt Lake earthquake, it is still bad and there are lives lost.
Soon after, looting and rioting escalate, making the valley a dangerous place to be.
Then comes a deadly man-made plague, one that has never been seen before. The contagion is high and there is no cure. Hundreds die daily.
The foreign troops that began invading our soil long ago–right under the noses of the majority of American citizens–unleash their havoc on the country by seeking out and rounding up surviving Americans, herding them into concentration camps, and exterminating them.
Then another disease begins to spread through the troops and many die despite being inoculated.

Soon after, another earthquake measuring 8.5 in magnitude hits the Great Lakes, practically splitting the country in two.
It is through the miraculous workings of the Church's transmission system– undetected internet and radio channels–that we stay informed. The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve still run the church and do what they can to keep track of God's people. Our tent city, as well as the others places of refuge have been surrounded in heavenly protection, kept safe from disease and the troops. Unfortunately, we have had a few brushes with groups of stragglers stumbling upon our camp and most of them are not friendly. The few who are, we are inspired to help with food and clothing, and though they are invited to stay, they choose to move on. As for the others, after harsh words and a few gunshots fired by the men guarding the gate, the groups move on. Every man, including my husband and my father, keeps a firearm nearby, ready to load if needed. However, we have found it to be unnecessary because we have become completely shielded now by heavenly protection, so much so that our camp is literally undetectable.
We are told that most of the countries are in chaos because of natural disasters and the cold hearts of men, but those who have gathered are safe and being watched over. In our hearts, Adagio and I know our family is all right, and we look forward to the day when we can see them again.
