Scaramouche had a good imagination.
Yet reality never failed to surprise him.
He just couldn't believe his eyes.
Childe had fled. Like a coward.
After awakening that ancient god Osial, Childe and Lumine fought a good fight. The Harbinger was ultimately bested by the Traveller and much to everyone's surprise, Childe disengaged from the battle in his Hydro-enhanced form.
His escape was not exactly smooth; yelling at the party for tricking him, beating him, and cheating him, all while crashing through the Golden House roof as he shot into the sky. Lumine only stared up, her grip on her sword loosening as she muttered unknown words to Childe's afterimage.
Scaramouche was left with no choice, he was willing to stand his ground and fight to the bitter end. Though there was no use in asking where that damn Geo Archon's Gnosis was, it was obvious that neither Childe nor the Traveller knew its whereabouts either. He knew it would be an honour to die for the Tsarista's wants and needs anyway.
So, the lone Harbinger's Electro Delusion glowed with all its might. Scaramouche welcomed that familiar surge of electrifying power into his artificial veins, letting it settle in his porcelain bones and scatter through his nerves. The trio of best friends noticed this and readied their weapons for combat.
"I know where secretary [Y/N] is, Balladeer."
Scaramouche whipped his head in Lumine's direction, his hand raised with Electro buzzing in his knuckles. Something like expectancy flickered in his eyes but was snapped away as he stared at the Traveller, "How dare you speak her name when you were the one who took her away from me."
"She's with the Qixing," Lumine spoke smoothly, lowering her sword into a neutral stance. "They must've taken her up to the Jade Chamber."
Scaramouche's surprised laugh was full of venom as he wagged his finger to scold her, "You are known for lying."
"I'm not lying, it's the truth." Lumine shot back and Scaramouche noticed how the trio of adventurers gave her multiple tense looks. "Why would I lie now when we're faced with such destruction? Childe has not only doomed Liyue Harbour but all of us as well."
"We can agree that Childe is a little impulsive, but I'm afraid I can't take my chances and simply follow your commands," Scaramouche replied with such toxicity that his face contorted with distrust. "Besides, I doubt [Y/N] would want to see me anyway."
"You can doubt all you want... but one thing's for sure..." Lumine only shook her head, sighing wistfully.
"What."
"No one... I have met no one as loyal yet treacherous as her." The Traveller's lips lifted, it barely counted as a smile. She aimed her sword at Scaramouche, "A Fatui secretary dedicated to her Harbinger, then a traitor." She braced the blade on her person. "An enemy of mine, then an unlikely friend. Not even the Archons know when she'll switch sides again. It's fascinating."
Scaramouche's scowl faltered. For a split second, his hand trembled. "At least we can agree on something." Was the only thing he could mutter.
"It would be best to find her before the city's destroyed... Before we all drown in the sea..." Lumine turned away. She looked over her shoulder, yet avoided eye contact. "I would never apologize to a Fatui Harbinger, but I have to say... it is... unfortunate what happened between the two of you. I hope you find her in time."
Outside the building, a distant, heavy screech rang out in the distance. It sounded like it came from beyond the Harbour. The air shifted and something dreadful was making the deepest layers of the earth pulse with fear. Whatever creature Childe had summoned was no stranger to chaos and death.
