The game bell rang, marking the beginning of the physical education period for the 12th-grade students. The basketball ground was alive with activity, the scorching sun glaring down mercilessly.

Aneesh, one of the more athletic students, was dribbling a basketball with practiced ease while teasing Yash, a chubby boy who was struggling to keep up. "If you want to learn how to play basketball, then snatch the ball!" Aneesh jeered, spinning the ball on his finger with a mischievous grin.

Yash, drenched in sweat, panted heavily as he clumsily chased the ball. The sun wasn’t helping his case, and Aneesh’s friends added to his misery by laughing and passing the ball among themselves, ensuring Yash was always one step behind.

"Hey loser, can’t you see the ball?" one of Aneesh’s friends taunted, waving the ball mockingly before tossing it to another friend.

“Take it!” another one yelled, pretending to hand it to Yash before shoving it hard against him. Yash stumbled back, clutching his chest. "Ouch!" he cried in pain, eliciting another round of laughter from the group.

Yash finally tripped and fell to the ground, his face beet-red from the heat and humiliation. Aneesh walked over and pulled him up with exaggerated concern. "Get up, man! Are you okay? Come on, buddy, don’t give up! You want to learn basketball, right? Then snatch the ball!" His tone dripped with mockery as he threw the ball high in the air, aiming dangerously close to Yash’s face.

But before the ball could collide, it was caught mid-air by Ishika, who appeared out of nowhere like a hero from a movie. The sharp sound of her sneakers screeching on the court silenced everyone.

“Ye kya ho raha hai, Aneesh?” she demanded, her fiery eyes locking onto him. Her voice carried authority, and her gaze shifted briefly to Yash, who looked utterly helpless.

Aneesh stepped forward with his signature smirk. "Arey yaar, hum toh isko basketball khelna sikhane ki koshish kar rahe the," he replied, feigning innocence.

Ishika’s glare intensified. "He’s your buddy! Does anyone treat their buddy like this?" she scolded.

She turned to Yash, who looked like a scolded puppy. Grabbing his hand, she started to walk away, only for Aneesh to step in again. "Arey Ishika, ye kya baat hui?" he said, his tone light, though the smirk on his face was fading.

“I’m warning you, Aneesh. Agar tumne dobara ise pareshan kiya, toh main directly sir se complain karungi. This isn’t the way to treat your buddy!” Her words carried a finality that made Aneesh lower his head in mock guilt.

Turning back to Yash, she tightened her grip on his hand. “Aur tum… kyu sehte ho ye sab? Learn to stand up for yourself, Yash,” she said firmly. Yash nodded meekly, his face a mix of gratitude and embarrassment, as she led him away.

Meanwhile, in the canteen, Aarish was seated at a table, chatting with Rishi, who had just left to grab their order. As Aarish waited, Yash burst into the canteen, practically glowing with excitement.

He hugged Aarish tightly. “Mere dost, mere bhai, tu rockstar hai!” Yash exclaimed, grinning ear to ear.

“Ha, yeh toh pata hai mujhe. Abhi tu ja yaha se,” Aarish replied, clearly unimpressed and more interested in his conversation with Rishi.

But Yash was undeterred. “Gaur se dekh iss haath ko! Aaj kisi ne ise chhua!” He held up his hand dramatically. “Ek ladki ne… usne mujhe bachaya!”
