Whatever it Takes: Endgame

Chapter 12

Natasha and Bruce ran to Tony, who was dying due to the power from the stones. In the distance a suit came flying to the battlefield.

When the suit landed, a pregnant Pepper revealed herself by taking the mask off. She was the first to reach Tony as soon as she saw him. Then Rhodey, and every original Avenger plus Peter Parker followed as the others watched.

The redhead watched as her husband took out a needle from his pocket as they both made their way to their friend and teammate.

Pepper had to prevent everyone else from blocking Bruce's path as he made his way to Tony, knelt in front of him and put the needle in his neck. Upon closer inspection, Natasha noticed the object was made from vibranium, which is why it wasn't smashed into a million pieces.

"Come on, Tony," Bruce mumbled after he injected Tony with the medicine.

"Bruce, what-" Pepper asked tearfully, but was interrupted as Tony took a gasping breath then began to breathe steadily.

Bruce let out a relieved sigh then addressed Pepper, "It's medicine to keep the power of the stones from killing him. He'll be fine."

"You're just full of secrets aren't ya," Tony playfully jabbed at Bruce as the scientist took the part of the suit with the stones off of Tony.

Clint took the stones and put them in a bag that was on the battlefield.

Rhodey and Pepper smiled happily as they helped Tony up to his feet. Thor offered to carry him, but Tony protested.

"It'll heal all of the burns in time," Bruce told Pepper as they both stood up. "He'll survive."

Pepper hugged him while tearfully saying, "Thank you. Thank you."

"You're welcome," he said while hugging her back, then letting go as she went to back to Tony.

Bruce turned his attention to Natasha and cupped her face. She closed the gap between them by pressing her lips to his, not caring who was watching.

When they parted, she took his hand as they made their way to the rest of the team. Clint looked exhausted but happy, Scott and Hope were stuck like glue, Thor brought Loki in for a hug, and Pietro was comforting Wanda. Sam was taking a breather next to Bucky, while Dr. Strange and Carol walked up to greet everyone. Bruce walked up to Peter Parker and properly introduced himself.

T'Challa walked up to Natasha and shook her hand then nodded. A silent thanks and understanding between the two.

Natasha looked around to see the Guardians had formed their own group hug. She looked at Gamora in the distance, who nodded at her. Natasha nodded back, understanding that staying or going back to her own time was up to her.

"We did it," Clint said. "We won."

Later that day Natasha, Bruce, Tony, Thor and Loki moved to the original Avengers tower in New York. Tony needed to be close to Bruce for medical reasons. Rhodey went to get government stuff figured out and the twins went to reunite with Clint and his family. Sam went home but promised to be back soon. Bucky went back to Wakanda with T'Challa, but also said he'd return. Peter had to go home to his aunt and the Guardians were fixing their ship.

Natasha was unpacking what little survived the blast when her phone rang.

"Hello," she answered without looking at the number.

"Natasha, where are you," Yelena asked in a frantic voice.

She had to take a breath to calm herself before she answered, "We're at the Avengers tower in New York."
