"But Ron... can't I bring at least one of my kitties?"

"You cannot, young master." The benign butler merely smiled at his pouting puppy young master, making the latter pout more.

"What about Lewis?"

"The pup as well."

"Then I don't want to go!" Cale declared with a huff of defiance, crossing his arms as he turned away from Ron. Lewis, on the other hand, cast glances between the red-haired boy and the middle-aged butler.

"...Is a stranger's birthday that important?" He chimed in, prompting the older butler to sigh softly before glancing at the curious half wolf boy. "The crown prince is not a mere stranger, pup." Ron chastised gently.

The crown princes's birthday is coming in 3 days, and the king invited all the nobles to the palace of joy to celebrate. Therefore, the Henituses must leave today in order to arrive on time.

It was a must, mandatory even, to attend because the individual who sent out the invite is the king of Roan, Zed Crossman. Declining the invitation of a king is the most disrespectful thing one can do, and Cale does not care about the king's son's birthday.

His priority was simple. His kitties and his friend Lewis.

Seeing as Lewis has absolutely no clue about royalty and what it meant, Ron couldn't help but sigh helplessly. It wasn't as if he was disappointed with the wolf beastman. No. It was because the poor boy lacked knowledge of the world. The only knowledge Lewis has was survival and the strong sense of distrust. That is not something a young boy should have learned or experienced early.

The Henituse county also received the invitation and are about to head there... but they are getting delayed because Cale is very adamant about bringing his kitties, or his wolf friend, to the palace. Ron turned down every compromise the redhead made, which led l the boy to become frustrated and very pouty.

"Ron...!" Cale whined.

"No means no, young master." The middle-aged butler stood his ground.

"...Hmph!" Cale huffed and turned away from Ron. His arms crossed as he avoided the benign butler's gaze. The redhead is now sulking. Hard. The butler sighed while Lewis looked helpless.

Meanwhile, the panther cub trio stared at  the sulking Cale with three varying emotions. For Ciel, who is still in his human form, he was uninterested in the affairs between Henituse and the crown. He was even glad to be left behind.

'I get to do nothing but sleep and eat.' He mused blissfully at the idea.

For Leo, he was pondering hard to the point his tail was swishing with interest. He remembered how the novel, TWP (Thrown into another World, I find myself a Purpose!), described the royal family to be... fucked up. The king, Zed Crossman, has numerous concubines and children. All of them are vying for power for the sake of solidifying their position as heir to the throne.

Alberu Crossman, who is the first born and eldest amongst his siblings, was the crown prince of the family. Due to this, his siblings and a few of his father's concubines are secretly trying to assassinate him by any means necessary just to take his position.

Leo honestly felt bad for Alberu in the novel. There were a ton of attempts on his life, and he managed to escape death so many times to the point that he got trust issues. Currently and far away from the novel's starting plot, Alberu is a kid at the moment. He's probably evading the assassins right now despite today being his birthday.

All Leo wants to do is provide comfort for the poor prince. Even if it's just a bit of momentary repose.

And for Ray, the topic about the royal family piqued his interest. After living in this world for a while now, he hasn't come across any mentions of the royal family up until now. His knowledge about medieval hierarchy is very limited. The only thing Ray knew about being a Count is that they rule a small territory. Knighthood meant that you can either work under the Count or any other hierarchies that hold influence, to maintain peace and safety of their territory, or that you work on the frontlines. Ray, however, doesn't need any information about royalty. Being a king or queen basically means that they rule a region and have the highest authority in the hierarchy.
