Akiva's voice broke the silence, " Are you okay ,Nessa. You have been silent since we left Evan's place."

I turned to her shaking off the feeling of unease, " I am fine,Akiva. I am just trying to process everything Evan told us."

Akiva's expression turned serious with the growing tension in her eyes, "We need to find Liam and free him from Myra's trap. Evan's warning was clear; if we don't, everything will be ruined."

I nodded with agreement, As we walked towards Akiva's house, the darkness seemed to close around me. I felt like I was trapped in a labyrinth, with no clear path to follow. But I was determined to uncover the truth, no matter what lay ahead.

✧ Liam's POV ✧

Flashback

I can't feel empathy. My heart which is suffering from a frostbite due to the indifference which others has shown me has made me incapable of love. My desire to feel the warmth of love has finally been buried in its grave.

Only tress are here with me which are humming their melodious symphony of peace. Withdrawing myself from the feeling of grief and loneliness , I focus on my anchor which is saving me to not fall in this endless abyss of pain which are these trees.

" Hello" A sweet voice lingered in the air above me.

All the negative thoughts which were swimming in my head came to a hault and unconsciously my head lifted upwards.

"H...hello" Her innocent face invaded and some sweet feeling soon came in contact with my heart. My voice was hitched because of the dryness in my throat.

The girl's face lit up with a smile ,"Can I sit here if you don't mind?" She asked with her gentle voice.

I embraced the disguise of a happy person to not let her feel uncomfortable around me, "Yes, you can"

From then on, we started meeting frequently in the park. Everytime we sat together, we would do a small talk to uplift the mood. Our conversation were always light and casual. A smile always rushed to my face whenever ,I saw her face. She was like a becon of light who brings joy and happiness in everyone's life.

" If you don't mind can I ask you, why do you always sit here?" An intimate question was this for me but my intuition pushede to tell her the truth.

"I don't feel comfortable at home." I said my voice barely above a whisper, "I live with my foster parents. At first, I thought they were a lovely family but as the time passed by I couldn't come to meet their expectations which resulted to their disappointment. They always anger up whenever they me, an useless person who can't come up to their standards ."

As I spoke, I felt a weight lift up from my shoulders. For the first time in a longtime I felt like I can be myself around someone. The girl listened to me intently, her eyes were reflecting the sense of compassion and understanding and at that moment I knew I have found a true friend in her.

Her delicate features started to move as she formed a sentence in her mind, " It must be difficult to live with them" She said with a pause. Her words shocked me, never have I ever been asked about my feelings.

"Do you have a friend?" After sensing the tension in between us she tried to change the topic.

"No!" My answers were clear. A lone wolf like me will never have a chance to make a friend.

" What if I become one?" Her words are always gentle just like her.

After that we became friends. Our days started with having lovely and mischievous chats over phone, showing each other their favourite and comfort places. Somehow both of us became a huge part in each other's life.
