My phone rang for the fifth time...

In five minutes?

A which crosses this a break through mi do not disturb?

I don't know the number. Clearly, they missed the memo. From you call twice, no answer? Take the hint nuh!

Now you reach whole a fiv—

Now six?!

Kwes finally broke the silence, speeding past the dead-end turn. I could feel his eyes drilling into me. The car was tight, the air heavy, with nothing but my phone ringing.

"You nuh plan fi answer that?"

It rung again.

This time, Kwes laughed. But anyone with a common sense, could tell he was ready to catch a body.

Our eyes locked as I spoke.

"Kwes...mi doh....know a who," my breathing sharp, chest rising and falling. Bitchhh! I was wheezing and I didn't have asthma.

"Mi ask yuh dat?" his focus on the road, his side eye deadly.

Shaking my head, I hung up the phone.

"So why you a give me attitude if mi nuh know a who?" I had the calmest tone even if I wanted to catch a case. You could never tell though.

"So answer nuh," he tilted his head, his timing perfect. I noticed that his 'smile' disappeared in a millisecond as he continued.

"Cahh any sensible person wouldn't answer so dem know a who?" his voice was low, pulling my frown deeper.

We should've been on a beach, maybe slamming something else, but instead, I felt fear and annoyance banged in me at the same time. Somehow though...he made both feel electric.

"So wah yuh think?" If I could burst I would.

"Wah me think?" his voice dropped.

Suddenly, the lambo sped off faster as he swerved around the cars, Jamal's Ballond'Or spilling from the speakers, his voice singing just as loud. Everybody and dem mother know say Kwes is the quiet type. So his attitude was mad strange.
