Uncle Meech was pissed, and trust me, I was too.
The gun fell on the wooden table. His hands followed, slapping the wood hard, the cups of special spilling over.
"Why yuh keep on a guh Rose Heights?" Meech growled, his voice low, dangerous.
I don't answer.
"Who you a link a Rose Heights?!"
I tilted my head slightly, unfazed. "How dat concern yuh?"
His jaw tightened, the muscles in his neck flexing. "Mi just ask yuh a question enuh."
"And mi nuh affi answer yuh enuh,"my voice just as deadly. "You a not even blood. Mi nuh understand why yuh a behave like say mi affi do wah yuh say."
The room shifted uncomfortably, but Meech didn't flinch. He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. "And wah blood affi do wid nutt'n? Yuh forget say a death before dishonor?"
"Weh mi father deh?" I shot back, my tone icy as I glanced at the others in the room.
One of them cleared his throat. "Him and him woman gone pan the North coast."
I looked back at Meech, my lips curving into a faint smirk. "You a just him good friend, yer? Don't forget dat," I warned him, my voice soft but laced with venom.
Meech was always a phone call away, he always had my back. First one to teach me how to shoot, how to fight, when King ripped away my dignity, and my self love took a back seat. Daddy was stuck in Canada, due to delayed paperwork, Meech showed me what respect looked like. 'How high a man raise his hands at you, is how low his respect is for you' Meech taught me that, he taught me the game, but now? All I see is hate when he looks at me.
