Whispers in the Dark

"My Lord, sh...she's escaped!, and she's stolen"...
"FIND HER! Do you know what will happen if she makes it to the alter with that orb!"
"My men are pursuing her now, she wont get far, my Lord"
"For your sakes shix....I'd hope she doesn't!"

I've been kept in the dark for so long I can't fathom how I have the energy to move, maybe it's my will, my will to risk everything, even my life just for this one chance of hope. I can hear them, Lord Sergath's sent his lap dogs but they won't catch me, not this time. I can't believe Sergath had this in his possession and unguarded too...this orb is the key to rid this world of him and save everyone, if only I knew how to use it. Unknowing of where I'm running too I feel a resonance an almost presence within this orb as if it's telling me were to go, I do not know why but I feel trusting this presence will lead me out of this hell. Through this maze of cold rock I see a shimmer of light, my heart racing I know I'll be free...."there she is, stop her!"
"No!" They've found me, "ahh, I will not fail"
As I stagger to what I thought was an exit I find myself at a cliff face reaching high into the night sky, I can smell the clean air, the cold crisp breeze on my face, as if I needed any more reason to get out. To my side I find a narrow staircase carved into the rock itself and without hesitation I stammer up as fast as my battered legs will take me.
"Hmh" "what is this?"
At the top of the cliff face I find myself in the presence of what I can only describe as an Eden, soft green grass, bright overhanging trees and a pool of tranquil blue water.
I do not understand why such a harmonious place is in a place like this but I feel an instant calm and find myself walking towards a stone plateau nestled in the brush. My arm holding the orb begins to move, I do not fight it and place the orb in the middle, fitting like lock and key....."hmm" a warm glow starts to emit from the plateau top and a gentle humming begins to sound.
"Stop her! Kill her..kill her NOW!"
Gripped with what I'm seeing I do not run, I have done all I can now, my exhausted body can't take me any further. Seeing my end in sight I just whisper..."save us"
Suddenly, the ground begins to rumble, the stones around me begin to levitate of the ground and the light emitting from the plateau engulfs the cliff top. This power will save us I just know it and I give my life willingly...and with a flash the woman and orb...are gone, leaving only a trail of dust and debris fading into the moonlight sky.
"Were is she!?"
"She must have fled while we were blinded by that light, sir"
"dammit! follow that trail. Finding the orb is our first priority....I'll inform shix"
"yes sir"
