LYLAS POV: I woke up today and immediately checked my phone for any texts from Zac. Luckily, there was one! It read:
"Hey Lyla! I'm excited for tonight☺️"
My heart fluttered and I quickly texted back.
"Me too! See you soon!"
I had spent the night at Evie's house. Ever since me and Zac had started hanging out, Evie seemed to accept me more and more, yet I couldn't figure out why. I was technically stealing her man. Anyway, I was going out to lunch today with Nixie and Sirena. I pulled on a polka-dot dress and put on some red matte lipstick. I planned to take a swim in the ocean afterwords, to calm my nerves. Right as I walked out the door, I got a text.
"Hey L. I'm here to warn you. DO NOT GO ON YOUR DATE TONIGHT. Or else."
I didn't recognize the number, so I texted back:
"Who is this?"
Moments later, I got a response.
"That's not important. What's important is that you STAY AWAY from Zac."
When I arrived at lunch, I showed the mysterious text to my friends.
"Um Lyla. We all know who sent this." Nixie said.
"What? Who?" I asked. Did they know something I didn't?
"Duh! It was Evie!" Sirena said.
"But she's been so nice to me!"
"Um Ly. She's trying to make you think she's an angel, and then she'll go and steal your man and you'll never know." Nixie said.
Just then I got another text.
"What time should I pick you up?"
It was from Zac.
"Well?" Sirena said.
