The journey to find their new target was silent. As graceful as vampires were, they managed to walk silently, no crunch of leaves underfoot, and no sound produced by mouths. Tension hung in the air, tight and suffocating. This was an important mission for everyone. Simply because they had to complete it. But for Alec? This was a chance to exploit the vampire world's greatest enemy; Raven Corvenn.
And bring back the one he was supposed to be bonded to.
Alec kept his focus ahead, his sharp eyes scanning the dense forest as they moved like shadows through the trees. Every step was calculated, every decision precise. Yet, beneath his composed exterior, his mind churned relentlessly.
Rori. A vampire who could speak to the dead. If the legends were true, she held a power that even Aro could barely dream of controlling. But Alec's interest wasn't in Rori's abilities for Aro's plans. His interest lay in what that power could mean for him.
The thought of bringing back the real Jade filled him with a strange mix of anticipation and dread. He hadn't known her, not truly. But the bond was undeniable, a thread that connected them in ways that words couldn't explain. And now, that bond was twisted, tangled in the deception Raven had spun, and everyone was trapped in it like insects in a spider's web.
Demetri broke the silence. "We're getting close. Her aura's fresher now."
Alec nodded but said nothing. The others didn't need to know his personal stakes in this mission.
Jane shot him a sideways glance, her curiosity barely veiled. "You seem unusually focused, brother. What's got you so intense about this?"
He glanced at her, his expression cold and unreadable. "This mission is important. Nothing more."
Jane didn't look very convinced but let it drop.
As the group moved deeper into the forest, the tension grew thicker. The air carried a faint, otherworldly energy, an almost tangible sense of power that hinted they were close to their quarry.
Suddenly, Demetri raised a hand, halting them. "She's here," he said softly, his voice a low growl.
Alec's eyes narrowed, scanning the area. The forest seemed unnaturally quiet, as though the trees themselves held their breath. And then, two figure stepped into view.
Rori and Ashton
She was smaller than Alec had imagined, her appearance unassuming yet unmistakably dangerous. Her red eyes glinted with a sharp intelligence, and beside her stood Ashton, a towering vampire with a menacing presence.
"Well," Rori said, her voice light but laced with amusement. "The Volturi have finally decided to come for me. I was wondering when you'd show up."
Felix stepped forward, his muscles taut and ready for a fight. "You're coming with us. Both of you."
Rori smirked, crossing her arms. "And if we don't feel like it?"
Alec's gaze sharpened, his cold demeanor unwavering. "You don't have a choice."
For a moment, silence hung in the air, thick with unspoken tension. Then Rori's smirk widened, her sharp teeth glinting. "Let's see if you can make us."
"Gladly." Jane jumped at the chance to inflict. "Pain," The word slipped out of her mouth willingly, and her smile grew sadistically.
Rori just stood there, a growing smirk planted on her face. "Make us," She repeated.
Jane hissed, frustration building up inside her. She attempted to inflict harder, but nothing happened. She shrunk away, defeated.
"I guess it's brutal force, then." Felix whispered, immediately going for Rori. But due to her agility, she slipped away, but not before I let loose my paralyzing mist, and anesthetized both of them.
Triumphant, we started on our journey back.
Watch it, Raven. You're about to be exposed.
A/N: Okay, yeah, this is trash. But I tried. School starts soon, so i"m not gonna be able to update a lot again. Sorry!
